The hotel bathroom was moldy and very old. The pictures do not do it justice. The staff was great and the food was good. The area of the city is very dirty and somewhat unsafe

We chose the Villa Romeo due to its location to the main train station, it's just across the street. We were only staying one night before flying from Catania to Rome. The hotel is old but well maintained. We enjoyed our brief stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was typical but could be eaten in the beautiful courtyard which is filled with plants, very pretty. Overall a fine visit.

Really liked the centre courtyard for breakfast. So convenient as we arrived by train and could easily walk to the hotel

This property has a lovely courtyard garden for breakfast. The downside of this is that if you have a room overlooking this you are plagued by mosquitos. I had more than 25 bites on one hand alone! They hadn't managed to spray the rooms yet and did not supply repellent plugs. We had booked a suite but this was unavailable so were moved to this room.

The hotel was charming and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally helpful. Convenient location for transportation (train and bus stations. However, very few restaurants other than fast food. The situation was saved by one restaurant across the street, Manga. The three simple meals I had there were good.

Hidden Gem! extremely good value wonderful service
Posted 14 Oct 2023 on HotelsA nice surprise to stay in the former palace, with historic architecture, beautiful décor, modern comforts and great service they offered. Close to the train and bus stations. 20 min walk to the center of Catania. Staff at the reception were professional, friendly and very helpful. Francesco helped us add 3rd night at Hotel Villa Romeo (It sold out at the date when I booked months ago), and called for canceling the other hotel. We had a large 4-persons room, clean and comfortable. The shower head holder was broken, it got fixed the next day without request. Overall, we highly recommended this underrated 3 star hotel.
