The rooms that are advertised on Expedia are not pet friendly even though the information contains the charge for dogs. I booked a stay for my partner's birthday at the weekend and on arrival we were downgraded because we came with our dog.
The hotel advised that what we should have done is booked through the website but on inspection their personal website doesn't make clear which stays are for dogs either (it's the garden ones)
It put a damper on the weekend, could have potentially scuppered the trip if no back up rooms were available and staff seemed to distance themselves from Expedia bookings and were not willing to make an exception.
The property itself is impressive and the grounds and location are fantastic but the customer service could be better

Gosh, this is very sad to hear. I can only say I personally took a direct booking from a lovely gentleman who has a dog and he found it very clear on our website which rooms were dog friendly,We certainly do not differentiate on who books where, so I am sorry you feel this way.We are super pet friendly and people come back time and again. I suppose as much as I want to please everyone, we can't.We also encourage feedback during your stay, not to write negative reviews. My team are super friendly and would hate to think you had a poor experience, so for this I am deeply sorry.I do rather think it is better to speak about these things to staff members than write a bad review.We are a small privately run hotel that really does try their best.We are deeply sorry we let you down.

Countryside hotel with stunning sea views
Posted 5 Jun 2023 on HotelsBeautiful sea views and only a 25 minute walk down to the beach. The main hotel had gorgeous original architectural features which made it very beautiful. The food was lovely.

Firstly, I would like to reply, by saying this was genuinely not our fault. I have written to Expedia separately as I called them when your booking came in, to say we were closed and could not accommodate you.They then accepted this and sent me an email, which I have to confirm they were giving you alternative options of places to stay.Nonetheless, you turned up at the hotel and we still accommodated you, even though we were closed for the evening.Reviews like this are not true and the fault lies firmly with Expedia. I have asked them to apologise to you for putting us in this situation.I am sorry you felt the need to put a 2 out of 10, when this situation was out of our hands.

Pure relaxation
Posted 26 Apr 2023 on HotelsBeautiful location and views from our junior suite. Had a sea view from the balcony. Room was large, had all amenities, and quality fittings. Staff were very welcoming, and made the stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast was excellent with good choices available. In house spa treatments were excellent an good value for money.
