Looks can be Deceiving

Posted 10 May 2019 on Hotels
The hotel staff was friendly but odd and the rooms smelled terribly of mildew. The hotel was quite literally in the middle of nowhere. And the food at the restaurant nearly made us ill. We will not return.

Dear "Anonymous", The Pazo do Souto - Staff has seen your anonymous comment and we have decided that we would like to answer it, since we really cannot be more in disagree with your opinion and we seriously doubt that you have ever been to our place. These public comments normally help other clients to make themselves a opinion of what they can expect to find at the places they plan to visit, but your comment will definetly not be usefull due to the false information you are giving. As it easily can be checked-out, we have in all portals with opinions, an average score of more than 9 out of 10 points and are also mentioned in prestigous travel guides like Michelin for example. We can afirm that we haven't gotten complaints about our restaurant-service or any bad smellings for years and cannot imagine why you afirm such a thing. Our calm rural location is normally apraised by our clients as it's meant to be for a rural-hotel, and the main reason is because we are a quiet but good starting point to get to know the coast of death-region and we are only at a distance of 20min. to La Corunha or 40min. to Santiago de Compostela. This permits our guests to visit several touristic highlights in the northwestern coast of Galicia. Anyway, the location can be nowadays also easily be checked out before making a reservation, therefor it shouldn't have taken you by surprise. It's not at all our purpose to make you change your opinion, but be aware of the harm you can do to a small business like ours and next time, be at least honest enough to face your identity if you have really been at a place. We ourselves will try hard to do even better, and make enjoy their stay to future guests, as it has always been our purpose. Best regards, The Pazo do Souto Staff (Carlos, Carmen, Silvia, Diana, Monica and Maria)

Elegant and friendly country hotel

Posted 1 May 2019 on Hotels
A long established and excellent country hotel. I stayed for business and found it quiet and welcoming. There is a nice garden for summer weather, an excellent restaurant and the staff couldn't do more to help including a late check-in. I was made to feel very welcome.

Pleasant historical setting

Posted 7 Aug 2018 on Hotels
A nice functional hotel with a historical feel - all basic amenities were fine. It is not a luxury hotel though. Food in restaurant was good and breakfast was very good quality with a good selection. Check-in and service were not particularly friendly - reception was much warmer in other places that we stayed in Galicia.

Pros: Everything!
Cons: WiFi is weak in some areas, but... Who needs WiFi, when the natural surroundings are so beautiful?
Location: Malpica is a great town to visit on coast. We cycled thru back roads to Ponteceso, and back, and had a beautiful day. Easy to reach A Coruña for day
We would return here without question. Each of the six of us (cyclists) from No. California, USA, want to return here with our spouses and families. What a wonderful restoration of an historic property! Staff are knowledgeable and courteous. The meals were wonderful! Fresh food and beautiful presentation. Location is convenient to visiting towns along the coast.
