Dragonfly Ranch is surrounded by green and the song of frogs and birds. I stayed in a room with a delightful view of trees then ocean. Dragonfly is only about a 6 minute drive from a great beach for snorkeling and swimming - Two Step, right next to the Pu'uhonua o Honoaunau (Place of Refuge), which is well worth a visit. Staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. I look forward to visiting again in the future.

Pleases me tremendously to hear when people love it here. Most people do love it but very few of them right reviews so it is sweet to hear this one. Thank you, Catherine.

It look like Youth Hostel! Small room. From the parking to the Dragonfly is the steepest walk! Not for wheelchairs! My room above the kitchen. Noisy. My friend wanted to wash her hair. No hot water!!! The breakfast room was was dirty! Food was good! Fresh fruits.

With large suites open, I think I suggested taking one of the better rooms which Sahara did not choose to do. I'm sorry her friend didn't let us know she couldn't get hot water as we have solar panals with an override system that we leave on. But some people don't know which way to turn the water handle and that sometimes waiting as much as three minutes is required. Our new dynamite house cleaner just informed me she is on the case to make sure every nook and cranny and corner of our place is thoroughly clean. Quite frankly, I really don't recommend the Dolphin Room for those people who are looking for luxury and privacy – – that is the reason it is so inexpensive. I'm sorry Sahara' experience here was unlike that of most guest's who love the unique jungle beauty. When I heard Sahara having trouble breathing after walking up the drive, I almost offered my asthma medicine, but I know that I'm legally not supposed to do that. If I had known about her condition, I would've offered to let her drive up or insisted she take the Writer Studio, which is at the bottom of the hill. It is for sure steep for anyone who isn't in used to that kind of exercise!I'm glad that Sahara liked the breakfast which our master chef does his best to make spectacular. He begins making breakfast at 6:00 in the kitchen--which is located next to that small room. Please beware that the Dolphin Room is unavoidably noisy.

Unfortunately, I do not know how to respond to Brenda because I do not know what it is that she did not like about what we offer. On our website, we do say that it is not for everyone. It is especially for adventurous travelers who love nature, want to be around friendly people, and are wanting to avoid the hotel experience.

If you love kind and caring people and enjoy nature and a casual family-like environment, you will enjoy staying at the beautiful Dragonfly Ranch. You will be immersed in the beautiful scents of tropical plants and flowers and enjoy a symphony of birds and nocturnal frogs and insects from your cozy eclectic screened in suite. I had a wonderful time staying at this unique and peaceful place. Thank you!

It is always heartwarming to hear that people enjoy their stay here. The Dragonfly Ranch team does their best to embrace guests and help them. Enjoy their time on the big island.

Douglas told me that he had a good time here but he for some reason couldn't write what he felt. He said he mistakenly put only one out of five when he really wanted to put five.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Dragonfly ranch. The owner, Barbara, was very engaging and helpful to find our way around the area. We had the option to stick to ourselves whenever we wanted, but also had great conversations with all the staff. Very delightful people. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. I highly recommend giving this gem of a place a try. We know we'll be back there for a stay next time we visit the Big Island.

Expensive for what you get. Camping with a roof. Dolphin room closes with only a small latch for security. Random door that leads to another room and locks from the otherside. Outdoor shower and bathroom. Breakfast was great. Cheaper than a resort but not worth the savings.

I thank this gentleman for letting others know that we have a laid-back life style at the Dragonfly Ranch. The Dolphin Room that is our the least expensive unit has an outdoor bathroom that some people love and others do not. If you do not want an outdoor bathroom, we have suites with inside toilets and outdoor showers that are private. None of our places need to be seriously locked because we're always here looking after peoples belongings. Nothing has been stolen. I would say that we are "luxuriously rustic." the "random"door mentioned locks from the dolphin room side.If you would rather have a hotel room with small windows and serious locks on the doors, it's better not to come to the Dragonfy Ranch. We welcome adventurous guests.

Thought we'd try something a bit different.

Its a little more basic than we thought it would be. The bathroom was clean but basic. Dragonfly Ranch is in the jungle - bring mosquito spray. We had a big arse spider in the bathroom - none of us dare go past him to take a shower. A simple breakfast was provided: coffee, cereal with nuts and fruit and toast.
