Too high by stairs, don't stay

An Ikea furnished flat, good in size, and cheaply furnished but sufficient. The location on the 5th floor was communicated 2 days before, and that the lift was not operational. That itself is a deal breaker, but the company would not offer a refund. They did claim on their site that the lift was not working, but never stated this was a 5th floor appartment.

Be prepared to climb to your floor (mine was 5th) as it appears elevator doesn't work for ages, but no information on that. Adding new batteries to the remote wil allow you eventually switch the TV on.

Smartflats is a scam. Stay away. The apartment looked nothing like the pictures, with bare rooms, the sofas are stained and dirty, the furniture of the terrace are torn, and the elevator did not work for a while when we got there, as the property manager told us. The walls need a coat of paint. It’s a 7th floor walk up with suitcases and kids in tow. We contacted management for a refund and they said to send pictures. We did. They said to wait for an answer. We never heard back. We went to the hotel across the road for all our stay. We contacted Expedia for a refund as well and they said after a few days that Smartflats were not responding to their emails and calls, so no refund possible, even though we explained the situation and sent them the pictures.

I picked it because it was a one-bedroom apartment which would provide enough room for my family while visiting Belgium. Unfortunately, several things were wrong from the beginning. First, the air conditioning didn't work. Also, some of the lights did not work, and those that did were all controlled by one light switch. Only the main switch worked. Additionally, we found that the duvets had terrible stains on them, like dried bloodstains. We talked to someone on the night we got there and they said that someone would come to take care of things the next day, but nobody ever came to help make things better. We left early, after they were unresponsive the next day.

They changed the code for entering the building with out notify us. We called the number they provided, but nobody answered. We waited outside for more than one hour to get the new code. They did not even apologize for it.

The elevator did not always work and we had to walk to get to the 5th floor the room had not been cleaned nor was the bed made the tv did not work we were awakened several times during the night by loud people inside and outside the building and they even rang our doorbell to let in. we tried to contact security but no one answered
