Lovely breakfast, good choice of hot & cold. Friendly staff. Room nice, clean & i slept well, although my husband didnt. Good location short walk to the sea front. My only issue was being given a room that could be connecting. Which meant i could hear the people in the room next door, when they used the hairdryer in the morning.

This was my old college 40 years ago so it was a trip down memory lane and lovely to see it put to good use. Great large room had everything you want except some draw space & maybe some coat hooks plenty of room to fit them in. Breakfast was ok but would be nice to have more of a waiting service. Shame the bar closed at 10pm when you just come back from a night out & the coffee machine is turned off for cleaning well before 10pm, these are all minor things & I would return again.

Overall a lovely stay. The only negative was the set-up of the bathroom - the shower was open and we found that the water accumulated to the point of flooding the whole bathroom floor, and carpeting outside of the bathroom ( there was a floor squeegee to push the water towards the drain), the sink was very, very small and there was nowhere to put toiletries.

Another lovely stay but disappointed in the astronomic rise in the cost of the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairings from £75 on our stay 18months ago to £130! We chose not to partake. However, great choices on the main menu and the steak was the best I’ve had in a long time. Lighting in the dining room is poor at night and we found it impossible to read the wine list on a brown background. Most of the tables are unsteady from a poor design - we had to change tables twice at breakfast or risk losing a lot of our tea into the saucer.

Bummer check in - some good things

Pretty bummed on check in. I booked the room on the site about 1:45 and then we headed over to see if at 2:00 there was a chance to check in a bit early. We inquired if that was possible and we were told that not a single room was ready and that check in was 3:00. I have literally never had that happen, I've always experienced a 'I'll check to see if your room might be ready." The no rooms was not believable. Next we asked if we could sit in the bar have a drink and some sandwiches we happen to have with us and we were told 'no, you can eat outside'. England in February. Also disappointed that it wasn't clear the spa/sauna was not an amenity included at the property but an extra per person charge and needed booking. On a plus note, we did book and the private space you get with booking is so nice. When we returned after 3:00 and checked in we got to the room, few more bummer things. Bed was large and nice with two thin pillows only on it. How uninviting for that quality hotel. We found some extras. Also, no bar soap for washing hands. Have to use their little plastic shower gel for that. Another plus note, breakfast was really nice and hearty and staff very accommodating.

Very sorry to hear this feedback. We do not permit early check-in as at 14:45 our procedure is that a member of management checks the cleanliness of each bedroom and signs it off before guests are allowed in. This we believe gives us the edge over other hotels from a cleanliness and quality standards view point. Unfortunately we do not permit guests to eat their own sandwiches or food in our bar and lounge area. We do have additional pillows available in the wardrobes but of course, if you would like alternatives we can always get these for you, just call down to reception to ask and a member of the team will assist you. We do have hand soap wrapped in rooms apologies if you did not get one however, again, if you call to reception a member of the team would be happy to help. Thank you again for your feedback.
