We booked the Connaught Lodge and were given an 'upgrade' to the Connaught Hotel. Leisure facilities were great although the woman receptionist for the pool seemed to have an attitude and was rude when asking for a towel. A smile or friendly hello isnt too much to ask. The room itself was very clean and tidy. The bathroom looked very clean, as did the main room. The room did get quite hot and the air con didnt work. It would switch off automatically after 2 minutes regardless to temp setting, leading to a very uncomfortable nights sleep. The bed is also quite firm so not the easiest or best nights sleep I have had, having woken up twice in the night, mainly due to the heat. Opening a window wasnt an option with a lot of greenery right outside the window so would likely attract bugs or spiders into the room... a sacrifice I wasnt willing to make as the spiders wouldnt be a paying guest. Overall, the leisure facilities and great location were the highlights, a shame about the air con letting it down.

Good location. Nice friendly staff. Sink in room blocked and shower very poor.

Great location for the beach and the centre of town. Hotel beautiful and clean. Breakfast was great with a good choice of cooked options, all freshly prepared. Really enjoyed the Bluewater Spa and Brasserie menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It was good value for money, the staff were very helpful and its location is great, very close to the beach and town. I will return again next time I go to Bournemouth

Good points: staff mostly lovely and helpful, room was clean, everything in the room worked, decent blackout curtains. Bad points: poor sleep due to very uncomfortable mattress and pillows (far too soft), no food available on one day (breakfast aside) as a large function completely took over kitchen facilities, noisy screeching drunk neighbours who kept banging doors and yelling - we were woken up and eventually had to get up and ask them to quieten down, buffet breakfast was OK but on second day made mistake of paying £2.50 extra for worst eggs Benedict I have ever had - served on doughy thick white untoasted rolls that were inedible - we made our own toast to go with it instead - the eggs were hard boiled too. Overall it was OK here but not worth the money and we wouldn’t stay again

Great value and a short walk to the BIC for a concert (also close to the town and beaches). Comfortable, clean and good parking - I believe parking is free if you book direct, we paid £8 as we booked through an agent. Really lovely, friendly and helpful receptionist
