stunning restaurant
Posted 15 Nov 2018 on HotelsSpent 2 nights at the lodge. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Accomodation comfortable without being outstanding. The highlight was definitely our lunch at the Forage restaurant. which was absolutely top class. Anyone visiting the area needs to have a meal there.

Great place to stay
Posted 17 Sep 2018 on HotelsWe had a fabulous 2 night stay at the cottages at Wildekrans. The cottages are very comfortable with two bedrooms, open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge. The outside verandah has great views of the surrounding mountains and a nice fireplace. The whole place and views are really beautiful. The staff were all superb and so friendly. We had dinner on one of the nights at Forage restaurant which was out of this world and is highly recommended. Their 2 course menu for R254 is fantastic value for the whole dining experience. You can only drink Wildekrans wines at the restaurant so a good tip is to go for wine tasting before lunch or dinner and purchase yourself a bottle as the restaurant does not charge corkage on their own wines. Breakfasts were also very good. You can taste all Wildekrans wines at the tasting room either on the relaxing front verandah, the front lawn or inside by the fire. The wine tasting room also has a restaurant which does great pizzas and waterblommetjie stew. All of this is within easy walking distance of the cottages. There are also good wineries in the area worth visiting such as Paul Cluver, Beaumont, Luddite, Goedvertrouw and Gabrielskloof. In town, Manny's restaurant serves fantastic prawns and Portuguese chicken and The Shuntin Shed is also a good dining options or place for a drink. Highly recommended.

Poor start to 2016
Posted 15 Jan 2016 on HotelsNot the greatest start to 2016 - no supper as the restaurant was closed early and no hot breakfast as they were closed (unannounced) on New Years day. Pathetic start to a new year - had this been communicated in advance, alternative arrangements could have been made. Being on a wine estate in a small town, no nearby alternatives either available. Breakfast box provided - but in no way fulfilling or compensates for the fact that this was a bed and breakfast booking. >>>>> On a side note, neighbours came to party and braai with loud music at 2am and no on-site security or reception to address the disturbance.
