Go... but know!
Posted 3 Sep 2018 on HotelsYes, it’s unique. For that, to those of you that tire of coastal beauty and glossy resorts and want a change for one night, I would say “go”.
Rather exceptionally, you and 2 other “bubble occupants” have the entire property of Bois Cheri Tea Plantation from 3:00pm- 10:00am. Dinner + breakfast are included in the cost. That means: in the restaurant setting of all those tables, there will only be (at most!) 3 tables filled. You order your dinner selections as you register. The food ought to be at a totally higher standard but the bottom line is- it is the privacy + magnificence of this setting + your accommodations that are outstanding. I would give this a “5 star” if the food had been remotely special. It wasn’t. Obviously, you can’t ruin breakfast so I am only speaking of dinner. The stars at night were spectacular and the moon happened to be almost full. Gorgeous.
The views from Bois Cheri as well are quite lovely. This is a one night only kind of stay. My husband was generally underwhelmed (because of the service and that one of the waiters was openly hitting on me as I checked in, and the quality of the dinner meal - I am 62, so pretty weird).
The Bubble was really cool! I loved staying in it. It was super comfortable, wonderful private outdoor shower. I had the lake + enjoyed a solo sunrise kayak while my husband slept.
It was a lot of $ for what it was- still, it was utterly new for us as travelers and I always love a new experience. Definitely best for couples....

A Hidden Gem
Posted 30 Aug 2018 on HotelsIf you are staying in Mauritius and would like to try something truly different and amazing, then I highly recommend a night at the Bubble Lodge. You feel like you are camping out in the woods, enjoying the beauty of the stars and nature, but in a luxurious bed. The hidden outside shower was lovely, the dry toilet takes some getting used to, but it is a normal size toilet, spotlessly clean and had absolutely no smell.
Dinner alone in the restaurant with only the deer for company, looked after magnificently by Ramma and Avinash, was a joy. Feeding the deer by hand was brilliant.
A private breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake and tea plantation, tasting as many different teas as you like was a real treat.
Embrace the experience as we did and you will have a very memorable night indeed.
They only have 3 Lodges (2 for couples, 1 for a family) all very separate and discrete from each other, so book early.
