I didn’t like was the fact that I had to pay IVA tax on the way out. I think this is absolutely absurd and it’s a way for the Colombian government to syphon money out of foreigners. Also, i was charged a whopping $43,000 COP for a taxi ride ten miles out. Don’t use their taxi service, use a regular cab that uses a meter. It’s a rip off. Other than that, this place was just wonderful. Highly recommend.

Pros The staff were helpful and polite. The front desk people spoke English, mostly quite well. Special thanks to Wendy S., who was exceptionally helpful. There is a supermarket and shopping center almost next door. The Usaquen backstreets were very pleasant, and seemed safe. There is a good currency exchange upstairs in the Hacienda Santa Barbara mall nearby. Numerous city buses stop frequently on the main road near the hotel. The hotel has 3 fast elevators. I never had to wait long. They provided a microwave oven for us. Cons: The gym was pretty good, but it was open only 8 am to 9 pm on weekdays, with shorter hours on weekends. The swimming pool and sauna were too cold, so I couldn't use them at all. The hotel showed divisive, biased CNN news constantly on the gym TV. Americans are very divided these days, so it would be better to show politically-neutral business news instead. Loud music was played in the lobby on some nights, and it could be heard even on the top floors. It did not affect our room, so I did not complain. There was busy vehicular traffic in the area, which caused irritating air pollution outdoors. But that is the case throughout much of Bogota, due to the large number of motorbikes and buses that lack emission controls. Overall, this is a very nice hotel with wonderful staff. I recommend it.
