When we reviewed the property on Expedia, read the reviews and looked at the property website, we were really looking forward to an enjoyable get away. Unfortunately, the winery was closed, the wine tasting was closed and the highly rated Muse Restaurant was closed. We had to drive to Bayfield and Grand Bend for every meal and there was absolutely nothing to do on property. The staff was pleasant, but other than suggest restaurants off-premise, they really couldn't help us as nothing was open. Their suggestions were good ones, however. It seems like what was advertised was not what we experienced - perhaps we were too early in the season? Overall it was nice to get away for a few days, but as stated previously, disappointed with the experience.

I would like to start off by saying that the staff were kind and super friendly. The place (during the day) was nice.
3 small things that my husband and I did not like was one the water in our room (room 9). When I was trying to wash my face and brush my teeth, I would turn on the cold water and I kid you not it was warm, it was not cold at all. I had to wait 5 minutes for the water to go from warm to cold.. 5 minutes. Why? Secondly, the private beach. When I booked this hotel and read in the reviews that there was a private beach, I was excited. However, when we got there we couldn't find it. We saw a long trail that we thought maybe could have been the private beach but there was a sign that said "Private Property" my husband and I assumed it wasn't part of the hotel. When we were checking out (today - May 24th, 2024) that's when I asked a front desk lady who told me that "oh ignore that. Guest who are staying here go there for the private beach" I wish I had knew that before or there was a sign that said "Private Beach here!" something for guest to know. Lastly, my husband and I got to the hotel around 9:10pm when we were told that staff were not available and will be closing at 10:00pm. I knew the hotel was not a 24 hour service but at night was a little scary, on top of that it felt like we had the whole building to ourselves as we were the ONLY car in the parking lot! I was getting uncomfortable. Overall, it was a nice place but I wouldn't come back again.

We enjoyed every single moment of our stay at Hesseland Inn. The best part was the private beach, friendly staff and the winery!! We will be back very soon!

Room was great. Clean and spacious. Access to the winery and authentic German restaurant was a plus. Highly recommended
