Friendly and accommodating staff. Probably needed more staff in restaurant. With golf tournament people and our group of 20 eating at same time, we felt sorry for the staff who were trying to make it work well for us. Also, really appreciated getting a load of my laundry done.

I appreciated the upgrade to a cottage with kitchen, due to the restaurant being closed. I enjoyed being able to cook my own meals.

It’s a cute standalone house with paved parking. Golf course is within walking distance of house and other properties and has a paved walkway so it makes for a nice walk if not golfing. Infloor heating made upstairs toasty warm. Small electric stove on main floor but we didn’t use it. Two full baths - one on main floor, other on second floor. Well stocked with towels, face cloths. Both bedrooms are upstairs. Property is well lit at night so you can’t miss it driving by.

My wife and I cannot begin to express our appreciation for the treatment we received at The Lakes in the past few days. Kevin Piercey, the GM, and Ann went above and beyond to help us in a time of family loss. They accommodated us so that we could check in early on our way to Sydney for a family service and ensured we had everything we needed in one of their beautifully-appointed, spacious chalets. We stayed there two weeks ago for another family matter and they were just as pleasant and welcoming. Having stayed on a number of occasions in the past few years to enjoy the beautifully groomed and scenic golf course (it should be rated in Score Golf's top 100 in Canada) and Founder's Restaurant, it is nice to see consistently high performance adding to one's enjoyment. We would recommend The Lakes to anyone who wants to receive good old Cape Breton hospitality at a resort that offers wonderful golf, skiing, and views of the Bras d'Or Lakes. The folks there make it that much more enjoyable. Thank you, Kevin and Ann!
