Happy with our stay

Posted 30 Dec 2019 on Hotels
Great hotel in good location. If you like to be away from the busy town life and be in the thick of the out doors this is definitely the place to stay. Only draw back you have to keep catching a taxi which will cost you $5 each trip to get something to eat in the main town as there’s nothing near you. Only negative thing I can say about the hotel is they could improve on the breakfast. We stayed in quite a few boarding houses across Ecuador and the galapagos and this hotels breakfast was the worse out of them all and some was a lot cheaper to stay. Above all though a good choice for us.

I was tired from traveling when I first arrived, but the staff were gracious and very attentive. I do not speak much Spanish, but everyone was patient and we got on very well. The rooms are clean and spacious, nothing extravagant, but when you are in the Galapagos you want to get out and explore! When I was in my room I was very comfortable. After a long day trekking, I relaxed at the pool and then enjoyed beverages and food. If I were to ever come this way again, I would certainly come back. If you are thinking about staying here I would say do not hesitate to make your reservation today!

The property is very clean. Simple rooms but very clean. A/C worked perfectly. Now, the windows in the rooms do not lock. This seems to be a very safe island and very safe hotel. We did not see a problem with this. The shower never worked. literally a few drops of super hot water. I mentioned this several times. It was never fixed. we ended having to use and outside shower on the second floor. This is more of a guest house, not a hotel. I think the people who run the place dont' actually stay there at night. So at night everything is super dark outside your room. Breakfast was almost non existant it went from bad to worse every day. Felt like we were bothering them by having breakfast there. We got each one fourth of a banana for example.. if there is something in Ecuador, is bananas. there is no transportation to town. This is really up to them if they want to pick you up or not. I would not stay again or recommend. There are plenty of places in town much better appointed and similar prices if you look with time.

Avoid this property!!! Do not stay here- in fact we left after the second day and went elsewhere. Water from the shower was brown and spitting out. No management so no one to speak to about our concerns. No food. Pool was dirty. Bikes were broken. Room was right by the door and was loud- even though we were the only guests. The reviews on this place are deceptive and outdated!

Great Rustic Lodge

Posted 2 Dec 2018 on Hotels
I enjoyed my time at the Casa Natura while visiting Santa Cruz Island. I dont believe I received the room I had booked as the description at booking showed 1 king bed, seating area with chairs and a tv but I received a room with king bed (two twins pushed together) and a separate queen bed, no seating area or tv. My room was on ground floor and looked over the front desk, pool and outdoor dining area which was fine in the off season but if its busy Id not want to be staying so close to all the action. No blackout drapes so be prepared to wake up with the sun. There was no wifi and mobile data service was spotty at best. The staff were super nice and helpful and I was surprised to have a nice home cooked breakfast provided each day. The lodge was located in Bellavista, a small village located 10-15 minutes drive from Puerto Ayora. Its a very rustic location with no other services nearby. A taxi to town was $5 and almost every cab driver in town knew where it was for the return trip. It's best to schedule trips in advance as taxis are not always available on moments notice in this location. The hotel did set up a nice cab driver for half day tour of highlands, a highlight of my time on the island. Overall I enjoyed my time at this rustic eco-lodge on Santa Cruz Island. It was close enough to enjoy the amenities of both town and highlands but was a quiet retreat at night.

This hotel was located in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island. It is about 20 minutes away from the pier in Puerto Ayora- be aware of this if you plan on doing activities from town. Although it is far removed, it was a quiet and relaxing night's stay. The hotel staff doesn't speak English very well so I needed to be able to use my limited Spanish. They were friendly and offered a simple, but satisfactory breakfast in the morning. The room was simple, pretty clean, and had good AC. There is essentially no WIFI so I was unable to send or receive any texts. Overall, I probably would have stayed in a more centrally located hotel - but it was nice for a quiet night disconnected from the outside world.

Nice hotel away from the hustle of Puerto Ayora

Posted 15 Mar 2018
We loved the hotel, but guests must be aware that it is not in Puerto Ayora or near the coast. However, that's exactly what we wanted when we selected this place. Nice, cool, lush surroundings with birds singing in the morning. The hotel is very secluded, but offers complimentary taxi rides to and from Puerto Ayora twice a day, which is nice. Regular taxi rides from the hotel to town are $5 USD, rides back to the hotel are $5-$7 depending on time of day, and how you are able to get a deal with the taxi driver. Another thing we found very convenient is that they have an agreement with a hostal in Puerto Ayora (forgot the name) where you can leave your luggage and use their showers. Very convenient if you want to have dinner downtown after a day long island tour. Or if you are coming from Isabela on your last day, like we did. Overall the hotel was very nice, but another thing to consider is that dinner (and lunch) is by reservation only during the low season. The cook only goes in the morning for breakfast and you have to request lunch and dinner. Since it is in Bella Vista, there are no immediate restaurants or stores near by, but there are some on the way from Puerto Ayora. We arrived late to the hotel, expecting to be able to find lunch or at least snacks. There were none, but the concierge made a real effort to get us some bananas and maría cookies.

Remote. Beautiful surroundings. I live in Ecuador and expected shortfalls. No wifi or cell signal-not surprising. Very clean and attentive staff. Big turnoff was no standard pricing. Hotel advertises airport shuttle fee of $60 each way when in fact I paid $27 to locals. Port and all tours originate 15 minutes from hotel. First day I was charged $7.00 when in fact the going rate is $5.00. Money is not the question. I consider it deceit and no way to treat a customer. They probably feel get what you can as they won’t see him again. I don’t like being treated that way. This hotel is probably best suited for South Americans in general. Being American I know what gringos expect for the price. My overall rating is in the middle because of the beauty of the islands. Might want to give it a pass.

Dear Daniel, Thank you so much for your comment. We apologize for the way that you felt treated, it was never our intention make you feel that way. Our main priority is make our guests feel comfortable and happy with the services provided. Our hotel is located in a privileged place of Santa Cruz, where our guests can connect directly with nature and forget about the stress and noise from downtown. You can agree that you wont find this peace and lush scenery anywhere else in Puerto Ayora. Once again we apologize for any inconvenient caused. We hope that you can give us the chance to receive you some other time. Kind regards,
