We loved Isla Bastimentos, the people, and the property but there is quite a bit of litter on the island and the water is not clean enough around the villa to swim in. It seemed that a lot of grey water and dirt went into to the water as it smelled.

The over the water rooms provide amazing views. There is no AC but the doors open the full length of wall to a patio and provide enough breeze along with a windows and a fan. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay and would come back.

The view is amazing and the property has potential however there is trash everywhere and often floating in the water. We were disappointed that the hammock was ripped so we could not use it. We let them know but no effort was made. There were multiple water bugs! In the middle of the night I woke up to a water bug on me in the bed sleeping. The music from the town is pumping all night. We ended up paying to visit another beach during the day which was great but requires a water taxi and beach entrance fees. Not a place to get away to relax. The price is not worth it, the quality is about the same as a hostel.

Hi Chiarna,Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I know we had a chance to talk about this in person, but I wanted to follow up here. Needless to say, this is not the experience we want our guests to have. We have taken several comprehensive measures to radically overhaul both the rooms themselves and our staff training. We apologize again that your stay didn't meet your expectations. We will be doing everything possible going forward to ensure nothing like this happens again.Thank you again for staying with us.

The Sea Monkey is an experience you will never forget. The view is unbeatable and the rustic feel makes this overwater bungalow such a great experience. Lin let us check in super early, gave us a quick tour and was very helpful by WhatsApp. She helped set up a tour, and organized breakfast every morning right to our door. She also helped us reserve a tour at the coffee farm even though we were checking out. They are in the process of building more bungalows - we are excited to see these when they are done! One little thing to note for other tourists is that there is no AC, but there is a huge fan right above the bed and we found it warm but comfortable in the unit.

The pictures are misleading. The cabin itself is fine. However, the water is not that clear. Not even close. The area around it is filthy with trash so you don’t want to go in the water. This is a place for a backpacker looking for a deal. They could also use an extra fan. If you are there on the weekend the town is extremely loud. The staff was great but we would not go back due to the area.

Loved the open air room, mini refrigerator & complete over water views. Breakfast was great. Lynn and her sisters were great. Could use some basic items like glasses, and island food, drink, & activities suggestions/literature. Was great to have a water taxi pick you up at your own dock.
