The rooms a very unique and they property is beautiful.
We had tiny bats roosting on our villa and it was fabulous to watch them swoop and dive over the river in the evening.
The owner & staff were lovely although my lack of Spanish made communication difficult. There was few maintenance issues, and the room it’s self could do with a little love.

Beware, not your normal 3 star hotel in the forest
Posted 20 Nov 2019 on HotelsDisappointing, beautiful setting and wonderfully crafted property. Unfortunately it has very little to no services or facilities.
Retreat or eco friendly properties should not use these badges as an excuse to compromise on the service side of the experience.
Felt unwelcome right from the start after asking for a glass of wine. 24h notice required for dinning and very average food.
Be warned, unless you are looking for a detox, a place to meditate and contemplate life you may be disappointed with what you find, as we were.
Boutique niche market premise that makes the average person feel out of place.

Thank you for giving us a chance even if health and Yoga may not be your thing. You made your 1 night reservation about 1 hour before arrival at 6:30 pm, and we had already started serving dinner for the guests with dinner reservations and there was unfortunately, none left for a later check-in. We did find you a nice bottle of wine and you seemed happy. You left right after breakfast, and yes, our breakfast is a normal Costa Rican breakfast for people not on a meal program - but I would not say that our dinner chef service is a regular meal since you did not ever try it. We offer a real farm to table fresh made service - not frozen meals that you can be served any time ...like most hotels. I tried to make you feel welcome, and I am sorry if you felt out of place - that is not the intention at all. But this is a wellness retreat not a hang out by the pool with margaritas that is for sure.
We are a Balinese style Vegan hotel with a purpose to save the rain forest and provide a healing journey for our guests - with our own SPA, waterfalls and just a few minutes from the Beach and the Giant Nauyaca Waterfall tour and close to 5 National Parks.
One night is not enough to make a proper valuation of our services - this property and the area has so much to offer :)

The proprietor, Fateh, was kind, attentive and helpful. Our room was beautiful as were the surroundings. Fateh took care of arranging our tours and saw that we had breakfast every morning before heading out. We took advantage of a wonderful meal in the Villas restaurant, walked the grounds to see the waterfall, and took a yoga class from Fateh herself.
The experience provided at Waterfall Villas was relaxing, nurturing and enjoyable. We loved it there!

Great room but awful temperature. EXTREMELY HOT!!
Posted 17 Apr 2019 on HotelsThe room we stayed in was extremely hot throughout the day and night. My wife and I could not sleep through the night. They have ceiling fans and another fan in the room however the Puntarenas heat is unbearable and the fans don’t do anything (just hot air). We asked for a room with ac but were going to charge 40$ more for the AC, which the room itself was already expensive.

Nice place overall. No disrespect intended, but based on our experience, the place would be busier if they'd offer WiFi on the property.

Unfortuantely, the company that offers the WIFI service has not brought a cable from 3 miles up the road to our area yet and we have been promised and are waiting a number of years now. Besides that this is a retreat and it is a good reason to unplug. Thank you!!!

Nice small lodging next to a beautiful waterfall
Only issue would be it’s too close to a major road with big trucks take away from the peaceful ambiance
