Smoke detector fell and security guard demanded I pay him $250 directly in order to stay in my room? But claimed that the “county” was charging me and didn’t want to show me any sort of verification

Our room was double booked after we arrived. We came back to our key cards not working and someone waiting outside our door because he went into the room and saw all of our stuff, realized the room was already taken and shut the door. The front desk was not apologetic, blamed the issue on the system not saving our booking and just issued us new key cards.

This place is so convenient and has plenty of food options around. It’s super clean and the air conditioning works very well. I only wish the mattress was comfortable and the other side of the bed had a nightstand.

MANY, MANY, unsavory characters in the parking lot, around the area, and hotel. Elevators have apparently been broken a while, and I'm a single tiny woman dragging giant luggage upstairs. As soon as I began to bring in luggage I was asked by a man who didn't have a key or phone to let him into the building. It's noisy, sounds like people running back and forth upstairs. Afraid to leave my car in the parking lot, made sure i could see it from my window. Staff was very nice, but it's not a place I would stay again. I didnt want to touch any surface in the room. I'm sure cmeaning staff did wonderful, it just felt "icky". I'd rather pay twice the amount for a bit of a nicer, safer place. I didn't know anything about Bakersfield, but now i know THIS is a place i will avoid if I ever come here again.
