Outstanding welcome! Didi and her family are terrific hosts. She went out of her way to make us feel at home. Thank you! We stayed 5 nights and did not want to leave. The historic house and the pool were wonderful with views of their land and the whole valley.

Didn't realize it was going to be a b and b. Had to drive everywhere to do things. Tricky drive to get there. Facility and owner were great.

Quintana Grande is a delightful place .

Posted 12 Oct 2019 on Hotels
Quintana Grande is a beautiful place . The hostess is very welcoming and was eager to share the story of her house and grounds with us. The room we had was very tastefully decorated, the bathroom was clean and modern . The grounds were beautiful, with a pool, vineyard and orchard and had a great view of the Douro valley. The suggestion where to find a restaurant was very nice, we had dinner there twice . The place is quite hard to find, and the little road up to it is also quite skinny....All in all, a great stay !

Not real easy to find and the roads are very narrow and curvy, but it felt like we were staying in the real Portugal and the host was wonderful. Suggestions to host, it would be nice to have a second trash container in the bedroom and soap and shampoo dispensers on the shower wall. And for the life of us we cannot figure out why no one in Portugal uses solar rooftop water heaters for the pools as they are always freezing. If solar is used, the energy is free. Only have the cost of installation.

Unique place to stay for the Douro Valley

Posted 10 Aug 2019 on Hotels
This is a farmhouse renovated by its delightful owner , Dede . Built by her grandfather over 150 years ago . The wine presses can be seen in the house . Dede speaks several languages including english and joined her guests for breakfast and interesting conversation . The rooms were spacious and clean . The views amazing . Great for exploring the Douro Valley and visiting Porto .evening meals are available . If you want to stay in a typical Portuguese farmhouse then stay here . You will be assured of a warm welcome .

Great location and such a friendly host. Didia made us feel very welcome with a welcome Port drink and music from old gramophone. She shared stories of her family history connected to the house. Beautiful room with view overlooking the Duoro Valley. We left satisfied with a lovely breakfast. Great place to explore the Duoro Valley.

A hidden gem

Posted 2 Oct 2017
Pros: peace & quiet
Cons: I would have appreciated a bit of peace & quiet at breakfast time & not had the owners young son shouting in the same room
Location: the picturesque Douro valley is on your doorstep
worth the tricky journey to find this beautifully refurbished farmhouse with pool.....food is home cooked & mainly home grown....wine is home made close to a village with restaurant, ATM, petrol station & supermarket

Very nice hotel with an outstanding view

Posted 7 Oct 2016
Pros: Owners, VIEW !!!! relaxing place.
Cons: Areas better organized to relax and read inside the hotel.
After an epic search to locate the hotel due to the lack of road information, we were very happy to finally arrive at a beautiful hotel in the Douro mountains. Even though they did not serve meals except for breakfast, they provided details on some restaurants nearby that ended up being excellent and affordable. We would have like more areas to relax and read inside the hotel but the lighting was unsufficient and we had to settle for the chairs by the pool side. Owners were very nice and explain how to travel around the beautiful Douro cities.
