Maison Sainte Barbe is a little haven of peace and loveliness, in an ancient building that has been sympathetically cared for. It was our final stop on a 2500 mile roadtrip before heading to Ouisteham, and I'd have been glad to stay longer.
The rooms we had were large, airy, sensitively decorated and warm (when it was cold outside). Our hosts were kind, inviting and friendly, and everything was condusted with an air of unthreatening order and care. Breakfast was beautifully presented, with small delicious cakes in addition to the usual French breakfast items.
If you love 'Eastenders' then avoid at all costs, because you will hate it. If you love peace, gentleness and a sense of historic France then this is the place for you.

Beautiful and very interesting old hotel very well appointed in an excellent location. We did not hear the cathedral bells even though it’s so close!
Lovely welcome, great breakfast and charming hostess.

Maison Sainte Barbe is a lovely historic building with a great atmosphere and lovely hosts. I would highly recommend a stay for the unique experience.

Charming B&B in central Autun
Posted 24 Jun 2019 on HotelsThis is a very nice B&B place. Our room was one of the several rooms in large, old but harming house. The land lady was very nice and kind. We had a large room with a huge private bathroom. Great center location and very good breakfast! Will stay there again.

Charming French place right around the cathedral and museum. Very friendly and helpful reception and service. Very clean. Very good French restaurant nearby - just ask the proprietor.
