The Moxy Austin- University is absolutely wonderful! My standout is their detail to security, once you are checked in you will need your key card for to access hotel rooms by elevator. I found this comforting. Free bar token for first time guest🙌. The rooms are fantastic! Very clean and very unusual but it all makes sense. You just need to stay there to understand. We have suggested The Moxy to so many friends now. Only downer was the $45 garage fee. We were only there 1 night so that was a bummer. But so well worth it.

While this hotel offers many cute Instagrammable corners and the hotel staff was friendly and welcoming, at the end of the day you'll find that this is no more than a hostel with delusions of grandeur. People who complain about the price-to-amenities ratio are correct. This hotel claims they're listing competitive rates, when in reality they're charging luxury rates without offering any of that luxury.
The worst offense for me was the bed. They don't even have true mattresses! It's just some kind of cotton bedroll, like a futon mattress. Definitely do not stay here if you don't want to wake up with aches and pains.
As for the good? The food at their little in-house restaurant was quite good, and every individual member of their staff with whom I interacted was a straight-up gem. They might not know how to sound-insulate their hotel rooms, but they do know how to hire kind, charming staff.

The staff was wonderful. Very sweet and very helpful.
My room was a bit noisey. And my room was a bit dark.

Staff was super nice and accommodating. Was a little nervous about being on the first floor but it was not an issue.
