Avoid - not worth the price

Very uncomfortable stay. The biggest issue was that unfortunately the entire room smelt of damp and mould during the whole stay. The rooms need to be ventilated properly. The rooms are also very dated (looks nothing like the photos) and some fixtures are broken to the point of being dangerous. E.g; nail sticking out and frayed electrical cords. Food is below average, and service minimal. The hotel entrance is very difficult to see, and we were given no directions before check-in. One staff member speaks some English which was ok, however no English guide was provided at all in the room. We paid 130,000 yen, we expected a lot more for that price. There are many more great onsen in the area, avoid this.

Sennomori is unique If you want a secluded quiet and peaceful place to be a private paradise, this is the place for you. The facilities the staff and the food are absolutely first class. If you add the incredible setting, you will have everything you need for a perfect stay

Peaceful!

Such an amazing setting amongst the trees. Peaceful and serene. Amazing hosts who were extremely helpful. The food was just incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals there. It isn't the cheapest place to stay in especially with the kaiseki meal that comes with the booking but it makes for a wonderful experience.

自然に囲まれた離れで、大変リラックスした時間を過ごすことができました。 温泉ではないものの阿蘇の水で柔らかいため、肌がしっとりしました。岩盤浴も暑すぎず、長時間いてじんわり汗をかく感じで気持ち良かったです。

また行きたい最高の宿

とにかく最高でした。はなれの部屋が森の中にあり、自然の中の完全プレイベート空間で身も心もリフレッシュ出来ます。部屋がとにかく居心地がよく最高です。天然温泉と岩盤浴も部屋にあり、家族みんなで仲良くお風呂に入りました。夜は星空がキレイで6月からはホタルが見れるそうです。オーナー様のお人柄もよくほんわかさせていただいた上にお料理もどれも美しくおいしかったです。今回はお正月に滞在しましたが、夏場にまた行きたいと今から家族と言っています。
