The hotel is well placed and has great facilities. We were delighted to be given an upgraded room with a balcony on arrival.

Friendly staff. Great with giving area recommendations. Hotel is in a great location. An easy walk to everything. Room could use some updates. Very small. Bed was against the wall so sleeper on that side could not easily get up. Was very small for 2 people to share. Being able to open door to a balcony helped.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Clayton Hotel Amsterdam, it is a great location for goong to the museums, canal tours or going to nice restaurants. The hotel is clean, modern and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We asked to move room due to the noise from city workmen repairing the pavement below us and they found us another room with no fuss. Woukd definitely stay again!

I liked its location and found it convenient to walk to the museum quarter close by. I was pleasantly surprised to be offered an upgrade from a deluxe room that I had originally booked. However, I noticed a musty smell in the new room. Also, there was an irritating, bubbling noise coming from one of the washbasins. Despite letting the reception aware of this, I heard nothing from them afterwards.
I was surprised by the lack of slippers, bathrobes, shaving and dental kits given Clayton was a four star hotel. I later read similar points raised in other reviews. Apparently, I should have made requests for such items at the reception. I feel I should have been advised of this at the time of booking in.
All in all, Clayton is a lovely hotel but I feel the reception staff could have done a little more than just a routine welcome with request for sight of my passport and immediate payment of city tax and refundable security deposit.
