Fantastic place for short break with our without the dog. Really dog friendly and extremely helpful host. Good food provided by local pub - excellent staff

Quiet retreat

Perfect retreat
Posted 30 Oct 2023 on HotelsLovely big room. Everything was thought of - in the conservatory area spare umbrella's blankets, maps, books, games, torches, walking sticks to borrow. We had a lovely stay.

Central village location, disappointing room
Posted 26 Sep 2022 on Hotelswe were on the ground floor, good that we didn't have to climb stairs, bur our window looked out onto the splendid conservatory, so for privacy the panes had been obscured. This meant the room felt claustrophobic. Excellent en-suite bathroom. No food served in the hotel so had a short walk to the co-owned pub on the main street. Thankfully it didn't rain. No lake view from ground level.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We are aware that the room descriptions that Expedia show are not as extensive as we would like, but we have no way to change this. On another occasion if you have particular needs it would be good to call us and discuss which room(s) would be best for you. For example, some of our rooms have a view of Grasmere Lake and others do not.We have served breakfast at the pub since well before covid lockdown was ever thought of, and for sure it has sometimes rained during that time! But the majority of guests feel that the benefits to them of having much greater range of food options and service hours considerably outweigh the short walk to get to The Good Sport.We look forward to welcoming you here again sometime.Regards

Will book again
Posted 28 Apr 2022 on HotelsGreat choice for Grasmere with dogs. Especially as you don’t pay extra for their stay. We stayed in The Cottage which was ideal for our short break. Will definitely book again.
