I’m fortunate to travel around the world and the staff on reception were so rude and unhelpful, I’ve never experienced anything like it before. My bedroom was very dated and the bathroom was something from dark ages.

Heated pool very pleasantly warm - important in April. My room on the top (5th) floor had a beautiful sea and golf course view (though have heard rooms on 1st floor - under the swimming pool - were pretty grim). Great breakfast. Excellent location - 100m from the beach. Only things I had to fault were magnetic room key access - lock mechanism clearly needed replacing (tech came twice but didn’t resolve the issue) - which meant I had to go back down to reception to get a new card almost every time I went back to the room. Also - telephone did notconnect to reception/ guest services. Other than these mi or issues, a wonderful stay. Will return.

Really liked this hotel, visited out of season (February) so it was quiet, peaceful and with great service and a beautiful setting by the sea/beach. If I was nit picking I’d say that it’s a shame the pool wasn’t warmer and that it was a shame there were no spa facilities on site and included in stay, eg sauna / jacuzzi. Also the tennis courts looked shabby. Most people are here for the golf however which doesn’t disappoint although be aware there is no shuttle bus to the local course (vale do lobo) which is a 5–10 min (walk with golf bag) and the shuttle bus to the other two courses nearby isn’t regular. Most people seem to hire a car so maybe not enough call for it. Finally, out of season the food options locally are limited , an excellent restaurant in the hotel and only one restaurant open within walking distance by the beach.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dona Filipa Hotel. The staff were extremely helpful particularly the reception staff. The food was excellent and we would be more than happy to return.
