Reception staff were very pleasant. However, toilet seat in room was badly stained & should be replaced & carpet needed to be vacuumed. The lift was also broken. But bar food was very good - so an ok stay but small changes could make a big difference.

Nice hotel

Disappointing
Posted 7 Sep 2021 on HotelsNot very nice. Room very very small. On first floor but a long way from the lift and the whole hotel was very dated does not look like it has been updated since the days it was an army officers club.

It has been a tough time for the hotel industry but there is no hiding that this property is tired. Minimal staff doing multiple roles and stretched too thinly. On evening meal on offer was bar menu and they lost the itemised bill for this so we had to pay blind at checkout. Public areas were not being kept clean and touch surfaces in both room and public areas were not cleaned at all during our stay. Bathroom fittings that were held together with tank tape and a room door that needed a shoulder to shut it. All in all, a very poor experience.

A number of issues were raised with the reception regarding windows, bathroom and doors which leade tone concerned that maintenance and cleaning were not being thoroughly done.
In fairness to the hotel they offer to move us on the 2nd but as we had arrive late back from an event we decided to remain in the room until check out next morning

Pricey for what it is
Posted 31 Aug 2021 on HotelsThis hotel is too big for the level of upkeep it’s staff are able to give and it shows.
Everything about the place feels very tired including the staffing levels.
There were no evening meals available, dirty cups left in my room from a previous guest, the television was not tuned to any channels…..but the power shower was good.
This was my effort to support an independent operator over a chain. Sadly, I won’t do it again.
