"Clean room, it would be nice to be able to charge breakfast to my room. A little bit of a process. Traditional onsen, no tattoos was kind of a bummer but I understand and respect the tradition of the country. "

"Great room layout, good ski out location, run to ski in a little challenging. Much more a condo development than a true hotel though. Difficult to get ski edge service in the on property ski shop, although fine for wax. Parking a little expensive. Breakfast was a weak point,.lack of variety and quality overall at the price point. In house restaurants great quality but pricey and not everyday eating. Short walk though to other options in Hirafu. Only one towel per person per day a little stingy, Onsen not truly an Onsen (no mineral water), so fundamentally more of a large hot bath. Daylight to room better than expected with Premium Suite on first floor, was concerned about proximity to ski and boot room but had no issues."

"We stayed at the tatami room with sea view. Staffs were polite. Room was spacious but I hated the tatami mats in the bedroom, it was old and tiny bits of the tatami was everywhere in the room that it got on our clothes and bed. I've stayed in many ryokans around Japan with tatami mats and not once did I experience one that was so poorly maintained. Toilet was old, a little too dark and cold during showering, amenities can be improved. The room was dusty too. Breakfast was moderate but repetitive. Will I stay here again? Probably not."

"Hotel Nord Otaru is located across the street from the canal. It has a good view of the canal, but the ocean view is far away and unimpressive. The rooms are dated. Our shower room smelled like mildew and there was some visible mold on the ceiling. The room size is larger than typical for Japan. The breakfast buffet was mediocre but convenient. The Hokkaido ramen was good. The bar upstairs had a nice ambiance but they were out of several types of alcohol and their signature cocktail. It’s about an 11 minute walk to Otaru Station and about 28 minutes to the Mount Tengu Ropeway. "

"The location is good. But the food is not that great if you are not a fan of sashimis. Also allergic to crabs and was not informed about them in the menu. And there is no replacement options."

"The stuff was very friendly. The room was clean, but very small. If you arrive with a small suitcase it is fine. But if you have stuff for skiing you will not find any place or cupboard to store your items. They don’t have a dry room. So you have to leave your Ski equipment in the lobby and the stuff takes care of it."
