Top Yoichi Hotel Reviews

Hotel Torifito Otaru Canal
10/10 Excellent
"We absolutely love this hotel. It is walkable to Otaru Canal and Sankaku Market. We do not have a parking lot on 1st day but it is not an issue as there are plently of options nearby. Family Mart is few steps away. The breakfast was good quality. We enjoyed it very much every morning and picked a 9am slot for non peak timing. The public bath was small and decent."

Unwind Hotel & Bar Otaru
8/10 Good
"I was a little turned off Unwind when I first arrived but the place grew on me. When we walked into the lobby we were hit with a strong smell of air freshener. Our room had dark curtains drawn and the A/C made a high-pitched noise. Once we opened the curtains and the windows and turned off the air conditioning, we felt a little better and the annoying noise eventually went away. The large staff was very nice and helpful throughout our stay. I had a cold and they gave me honey and lemon at breakfast and at the bar. One night the bartender went to great trouble to fix a cup of hot honey-sweetened lemonade for me. It was very soothing for my sore throat. Breakfast was in a large, pleasant room with stained glass windows and lots of light. the meal came on a three-tiered platter and included a mix of Western and local specialties, including mini scones and omelets, potatoes, soup and vegetables. They accommodated my dairy-free diet. In all, we felt pampered and taken care of and were truly able to unwind. The location was convenient, a 10-minute walk from the train station and just a few minutes from the canals, art museums and restaurants."

Jozankei Yurakusoan
10/10 Excellent
"Jozankei Yurakusoan was easily one of the highlights of our stay in Hokkaido. From the moment we checked in, it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into creating a relaxing and memorable guest experience. Every little detail from the warm hospitality to the thoughtful amenities made us feel well looked after. The biggest highlight was undoubtedly the onsen. The public hot spring baths were excellent, and our room even came with its own private bath, which made for an incredibly peaceful way to unwind. On top of that, the hotel also offers four private onsens that guests can reserve and enjoy, making it easy to have a more intimate hot spring experience. Guests are provided with comfortable yukatas to wear throughout the property, and shoes are left at the entrance, creating a clean and relaxing atmosphere that quickly feels like home. One of our favourite touches was the complimentary late-night ramen served from 10 pm which was a simple but thoughtful treat after an evening soak in the onsen. Parking was also convenient thanks to the automated parking garage. Whenever we needed our car, a staff member was always on hand to help retrieve it promptly, and the service throughout our stay was consistently warm and attentive. The only area that didn’t quite meet our expectations was the kaiseki dinner. While a few dishes were excellent the others were a bit of a miss. Breakfast was similarly elaborate, with multiple courses that felt a little overwhelming for us."

Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono
10/10 Excellent
"Amazing hotel with great staff and beautiful suite. Breakfast was incredible but dinner options were limited. Could not get into their Japanese restaurant even though booking day in advance. When booking their Italian restaurant, they said they only had one table left by entrance door. I pushed for a window seat and said we would be out in an hour. Anyway, the restaurant was never more than half full and we never had to move. Made me wonder if we should have headed over to the Japanese restaurant and seen if it was actually full. Not sure what all the fuss was about but a bit concerning given there is nowhere else to eat nearby and this is the slow season. Where do people eat when the hotel is full?"

Hotel Sonia Otaru
10/10 Excellent
"Great hotel and location. Canal boat tour just across the street with the Otaru Beer Brewery adjacent. There are many patrons frequenting the Sonia Hotel from many different countries, some of which don't know Japanese culture. Be patient and plan to have breakfast, if included with your stay, early morning 6am or later at 9am. These times are less crowded. If you plan to enter the onsen bath, go at the earliest offered time. Enjoy!"

Granbell Hotel Otaru
8/10 Good
"Very convenient location and the hotel is quite new."

OMO5 Otaru by Hoshino Resorts
10/10 Excellent
"The location was very convenient & in a quiet area. Just around a 10 minute walk from Otaru Eki. A 5 minute walk to the canal. There's a Family Mart across the street from the hotel. There was also a cute little shop selling mochi and manju nearby. I loved how the hotel was in a historic building. The bathroom was spacious & modern. Comfortable bed. Staff was friendly & very helpful. Would definitely stay there again."

Nikko Style Niseko HANAZONO
10/10 Excellent
"We did not drive so we did not visit the near by town. The hotels food was delicious. Dinner was cheap but the breakfast was a little pricey. Would recommend others to stay here. Room was huge and very clean."

Jozankei View Hotel
8/10 Good
"We stay here every few years and generally have good experiences. In the past it was packed with Chinese tourists but this time there were noticeably fewer. There was a junior high trip which made dinner/breakfast a little more chaotic but I’ve chaperoned that type of trip before and didn’t notice the kids were badly behaved or anything. The food was delicious and the room, while old, was clean. My biggest complaint is with the pools. One was closed and the other one limits the people that use almost all the slides and such to kids 120 cm and under. My 11 year old was pretty bored with nothing to do at the pool. They also used to have free rafts to float on, but no more. Some of the onsen were also under construction but there was still plenty of space. Could have dealt without the old Chinese ladies’s manners in the onsen but I don’t blame the hotel for that. Enjoyed checking out Shiroito waterfall (didn’t realize how close it was). Overall a good stay but not sure we will be back since next time my 7 year old will also be too big for all the pool activities. Price has also increased a lot in the past few years."
