The Parkman - Great Smoky Mountains

The Parkman - Great Smoky Mountains

8/10 Good
"We had a great stay at The Parkman in charming Townsend. We came to explore Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and after spending earlier in the week in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge, we much preferred Townsend's "Peaceful Side." The hotel was a great base for exploring Cades Cove — just note it's a bit of a drive to sites like Alum Cave, Kuwohi, and Newfound Gap. Still, the town itself is a nice change of pace from the busier Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. One thing worth mentioning: we had requested a second-floor room, but that request wasn't honored. This was disappointing since we'd paid extra for a room with a "balcony" - but because we ended up on the ground floor, it was really more of a patio. Clearer wording around what that upgrade actually includes would be helpful. We also noticed a lot of motorcycle traffic during our stay, which comes with the territory in this area but isn't ideal when you're hoping for a peaceful visit. We're a small family and had requested a quiet room, but we were placed near the back of the property, right by the motorcyclists passing through. Since the property clearly had vacancies elsewhere, it would have been nice if guests weren't all grouped together in that section. That said, we were only there for one night, had a pleasant stay overall, and would consider returning - with a request to be placed away from the motorcycle traffic next time."

Creekside 2 Bedroom Cabin by RedAwning

10/10 Excellent
"This place was perfect for our trip. It’s located close to everything the area has to offer. We didn’t have more than a 45 minute drive to get to anything. The place is simple, in a good way. It has everything you need and nothing you don’t. The best part is the back deck over the mountain creek. It was very relaxing to sit out there and listen to the water. We spent most of our time at the cabin enjoying that. The hot tub on the deck was a nice bonus as well. The area is absolutely beautiful and there’s a grocery store and some restaurants 6 minutes away. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend to anyone who wanted to spend time around the Smoky Mountains national park area."
