"Our receptionist was very dry and unwelcoming, not friendly at all. Did not smile once. We waiting in line to check in for about 8 minutes as there was only one clerk. A 2nd line started forming as it was confusing to see where the line started. Then a 2nd clerk came in (the one I am referring to). She didn’t ask who was next and just took the other guest even though we were already waiting. It was fine it happens, but again, when she finally helped us she was very dry, not mean or rude, just not welcoming. My son even tried to break the ice because he asked if the decorations on the wall were lilies and she turned around and said “um, yeah”. No friendly conversation, no smile, just very dry. Maybe she was having a bad day, we all do. But it left a negative taste in our mouth. Luckily our stay was overall positive and fun. Pool was great. "
"My wife and I used to stay here when on vacation but found a few better places closer to where we like to spend our time. Ended up staying here because of good price on a busy weekend when all other hotels double their prices. Was very impressed with the new look and the updated rooms. Our stay was very nice and hotel was kept very clean."
"Nice little motel. The staff was great. The pool was nice and clean. Many food and drink options close by. Would definitely recommend and we plan on coming back. "
"Ayres Hotel is a great option in the Newport/Costa Mesa area. We stayed one night to visit family and it was a pleasant stay. We wish we had more time to enjoy the courtyard and pool. We walked to Pom and Olive and had a great dinner. Parking filled up quickly so keep that in mind if you decide to go somewhere in the evening. "
