"We had an incredible stay at Almare in Isla Mujeres, made truly special by both the setting and the team. The beach is beautiful, calm and peaceful – it feels private and far from the crowds, the perfect place to completely switch off. A special thank you to Rodrigo, the manager, who made us feel like royalty from the moment we arrived. As a fellow Portuguese, his warmth and personal touch made a real difference. Claudia and Karen were fantastic by the pool – always smiling, attentive without being intrusive, and somehow always appearing at the perfect moment with margaritas or ice cream. Breakfast was a daily highlight thanks to Cristina, whose energy is contagious. We loved starting our mornings with her and even getting to practice some Spanish. A very special mention to Braolio – spectacular from start to finish. The dinner at the pier was unforgettable, made even more special by the story of the pirate Fermín and La Trigueña, and the incredible local cocktail he prepared. Diego also went above and beyond, organising two bespoke dinners and sharing thoughtful local recommendations throughout our stay. To everyone else behind the scenes – thank you. Your care and attention made this one of the best stays we’ve ever had. We left feeling spoiled and already planning our return."

"Check in and staff were friendly and helpful. Room was great. Be cautious when turning on the shower, the door was still open and water went everywhere. Spend the extra for the balcony. The pool was my favorite part. There is a nice pool upstairs but it was kind of windy. No food options upstairs. You cannot really swim per se in the ocean there but it’s the cleanest part of the ocean along that area. Minimal sargassum. My only hesitation to coming back would be the drink selection. Very minimal and missing basic alcohols for basic drinks. No baileys for coffee for example if you’re into that. Extra charge for anything other than no name basic alcohol. Room did have soda and water in it. It was very quiet since spring breakers had all left."

"The location and views of this property are absolutely amazing, as the hotel sits on a 20 foot cliff Oceanside so you have constant breezes. You can climb down the rocks and get in the ocean and if it’s not too windy, you can get in the water as it is a rocky area. Online pics are likely old when the previous owner was operating it, it has substantial wear and tear and needs some love:) Shared kitchen is ill equipped, we bought a coffee maker for our large group of 10. The AC seemed to work fine in all the rooms, although temps were mild 82 was the high, and we opened our large windows at night and did not use the AC. Our rooms were clean, but we had to maintain them on our own. There were no staff present during the day to do any room housekeeping. Manager was available & fairly responsive via text. One staff was present 9 to 5, he spent the entire day on his phone, sweeping sand off the decks areas and occasionally dropping chemicals in the pool. He did empty the trash from the common areas before he left in the late afternoon. He was under utilized and could be doing so much more to bring that place up to where it was. The pool was pretty cloudy the entire eight day stay and we addressed this concern with the manager, he said they shocked it, which I’m not positive about:( they are obviously on a shoestring budget by all appearances. It would be nice if they had on-site manager that lived in the apartment and then it could be properly cared for & maintained "

"I booked through Expedia and paid in full or so I thought. At check-in I'm told there is a environmental fee right then. Nothing about that was listed on the website about this additional. I don't like being taken advantage of and I think everyone who checks in here is. If it's a legit fee why not have it in your booking or forewarn of it in the listing? As for the room it was big and air conditioned. The water in the sink and shower is salty due to it being right on the beach. And the toilet only flushed half the time."

"Wonderful family stay at Casa Azul Maya! We did have a ground floor room which was a bit more humid - but the AC kept it cool and it was fine for all of us. Beds were comfortable, staff helpful and room was cleaned everyday with fresh bath and beach towels as needed. The partnership with Loretta’s was perfect; amazing breakfasts, access to pool and ocean were picturesque. South side of the island is much calmer and slower pace -with great food, coffee and Punta Sur—- we’d come back in a heart beat. "
