The location of the hotel was great. Walking distance from cable cars and subway. You could tell they did a good job cleaning, but the hotel was older and the bathrooms need updating and possible repairs.

You actually can't fault this hotel, location, free coffee, Flavoured Water Machine - free...good price... There is one really really tiny thing... After 6 lovely nites there, I still have no idea whatsoever how the bath/shower taps works....😀

The only real hiccup was the night we arrived. The valet parking area was occupied, we had to circle the black (which took about 10 minutes) double park while I ran inside to ask what we were supposed to do. The receptionist was extremely helpful, someone parked in the valet section but another tiny spot opened up while we were outside. They have this amazing water station in the lobby I will miss dearly! The location is incredible, steps from several stores and restaurants.

We loved the historic building and the location. It was close to everything we wanted to do. We wished we could’ve worked in the musical Hairspray but it was sold out on the days we were going to be there. The staff were great at the hotel. As an Elk Lodge member it was awesome visiting the Lodge and Bar.

The front desk staff were very kind. The location was super convenient and easy to find. They kept our luggage before check-in and after check-out. The morning coffee and snack service, as well as the water dispenser, were great. The water server offered sparkling, still, or hot water, along with some flavor options. Although we had a minor issue with the toilet, the staff responded promptly and resolved it right away. Please note that housekeeping is provided only once every three days.

Our stay was fine. The location is fantastic and the two members of the maintenance staff we interacted with were great. It's an old hotel. It's clean and pretty well maintained but that doesn't negate the fact that it's an old hotel. Also note that there isn't any air conditioning but there are ceiling fans and the windows open a couple of inches to let any breeze in. It was hot when we were there and the hotel provided additional fans. We were there for the SF Playhouse located in the same building, but otherwise it wouldn't be my first choice for a hotel in SF.
