"Very cute half timbered inn with a busy bar/dining room full of locals and visitors. Good food and excellent service. Because this is an authentic property, you hear everything from the creaky floors to the noise from your hotel neighbors and the dining room downstairs. Narrow twisting stairs (no elevator) made luggage a challenge. Bedding was scratchy and unpleasant and they did not provide a blanket for our 3rd person in the room."

"The hotel was located in a very convenient location, with plenty of amenities nearby, most importantly: a stone's throw from the Steele railway station. The premises were spotless, quiet, the rooms vast, cosy and all areas of the building felt well-maintained, and comfortable."

"My wife and I stayed in Haus am Stadttor for two nights in August 2025. We absolutely loved the place. It is perfectly located and very comfortable, with everything you could possibly need for a short or long-term stay. We slept like babies in the comfortable bed and enjoyed the quiet, though the house is located a very short walk to the altstadt. Mathias was also very friendly, welcoming, kind, helpful and flexible. He let us check in early and allowed us a late check-out. All-in-all, a great stay!"
