The hotel next door has a roof top night club. The music was loud and was very disturbing at night. I ended up staying only 1 night.

Nice small hotel on the water. Rooms are large, modern, and comfortable. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the location is convenient. Pool area is very small and there is no beach to speak of, but you can use the other Thompson Hotel's pool which is larger a lot nicer.

Awful service from front desk person, we just stayed one night and cancelled the rest. Hotel is in front of a restaurant that is very loud during the night. Not a good hotel to bring families.

We stayed at the wonderful main house the last time we were in Playa and decided to stay at the Beach House this time. Upon check-in, we were given a room that was disappointing, so we asked for options. We were offered the panorama view room, which was FANTASTIC. It had a huge terrace overlooking the beach/ocean. The room itself was very large, well appointed, and we felt spoiled to be there. The terrace also had a plunge pool. Unfortunately, the water had not been changed and was green. (distasteful, but we did have the hotel pools) We mentioned this to the front desk and after some awkward excuses, they said they would have someone come and change it. Well, they did, but they left the taps running and when we came home after an evening out, the water was overflowing. This, and the fact that housekeeping neglected to replace our coffee pods and cups for a few mornings were the only issues. Generally, the hotel is lovely, our terrace and view couldn't have been better, and the staff were overall very lovely. We honestly wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Thompson (both) again.

We arrived and had to walk our luggage to the hotel out in the middle of a busy street, the room was filled with tiny bugs, cracks in the walls and ceiling, loud loud noise outside until 3 in the morning. For $500 a night I was terribly disappointed. (Never again!!!)

Very friendly staff, and nice rooms. Great location by the beach. Restaurant was under renovation when we visited, but the breakfast offered at nearby Thompson main house was really good. Hotel next door was very noisy, with music from early day to late in the night.

Bar/Restraunt shut down! No food/drinks available

Let me first start by saying that this hotel is gorgeous and in a perfect location. However when we arrived they let us know that their restaurant and bar were shut down by the city and they lost their license so we didn't have access to any food room service or bar service while on property. This was a huge disappointment because one of the reasons why I booked this place was so that we could have poolside bar service. If the hotel had been honest about the condition and let us know before we came that they did not have food available we would have canceled the reservation and book somewhere else but I feel like they deceived us. They were also doing very noisy construction on the restaurant and bar during the day when we were laying around the pool. They also charged us a $300 deposit which seemed unnecessary because there was nowhere to spend the money. All in all it was a huge disappointment to stay at this place and I don't like being deceived.

Hyatt channeling Motel 6.

This hotel is in a great location. We have stayed here multiple times. We got a large suite for the new year and were treated like juveniles. I get that people abuse rooms but as repeat guests and loyalty rewards members you'd have thought Hyatt would have done some homework as to who was staying there.

The second we were greeted we were asked for a security deposit which is not displayed in the Expedia page. We told this to the host and he behaved unprofessionally, made us late for the event we were attending and shouted over my wife and I while we were trying to solve the situation. On the second night asked housekeeping to come back later, they didn’t and asked front desk to help us out, for which they didn’t as well. The facilities are clean are beautiful with a nice access to the beach. I would recommend you consider another hotel before engaging with this one.

Es mis 4 ocasión hospedandome en este hotel, le tengo cariño por motivos personales y cada vez que visito Playa del Carmen me hospedo en este, así ha sido en los últimos 2 años y medio, pero la caída en su calidad ha sido más que notable. El mantenimiento al hotel está dejando mucho que desear, la comida y el club de playa aparte no ser lo que era antes ahora es realmente malo. Agregando que su sección de playa siempre está sucia de sargazo lo cual es una lástima.

Nothing special just another corporate hotel in term of layout, decor. Cons: Bathroom shower overflowed making tile slippery and unsafe. Beach is very undesirable. Pros: Staff were all very courteous, polite, extremely accommodating. Drinks at the bar were great. Food we ordered was very good. Tequila tasting was fun. Location of the hotel is convenient to all your needs: restaurants, bar, entertainment, coffe shops, or shopping....
