"We had booked the lake view king suite room which the view was not great. When we got into the room it was very hot and we tried to turn the ac on but the air blowing out was still hot. Definitely would not book there again "

"I chose the hotel for the location to meet friends for a visit to the Art Institute and dinner as I passed through the city, a modest price and at-grade adjacent parking lot convenience, but the physical condition was so shabby. The mattress was too hard for me, so made for an uncomfortable sleep. Also, I was up on the 12th floor of the north tower, so perhaps that was the reason, but there was virtually no water pressure in the shower, it was only a trickle, and the water didn’t get very warm, so I had to skip taking a shower in the morning before I checked out. Last time I was there with my sister on a hot summer day, the air conditioning barely worked, so the room was too warm, and sleep was not refreshing either, but we did have really nice lake views and also convenient access to downtown lakefront activities. We did request assistance for the AC from maintenance staff, but the building is just old, and they couldn’t do any better, given the physical plant condition. "

"I absolutely loved my stay at the Palmer Hotel and definitely book next year again for The Great Lace event. The service was very cordial, my room was ready before check in, and I received a few complimentary snacks and amenities. I will say the only thing that would give me pause is the WiFi technically cost money (I received a promotion code this time) and the little fridge with drinks and snacks are classified as a mini bar so you will have to pay for these items. Besides those two things, I can easily see this becoming one of my favorite spots to stay when I visit Chicago."

"Really old rooms, landlord special, windows entirely painted over. There is little to no sound dampening, you hear EVERYTHING that is outside. The rooms are super draft. Room door is flimsy, did not feel safe. The room itself is BARE minimum. Tiny bathroom, can barely get around the door to get to the toilet. It was cheap compared to other hotels in the area and I can see why. "

"On site restaurant had lobby signage said it was open, however the 2 nights we stayed there it was closed. The restaurants in this financial district close early (after offices close). Very inconvenient and poorly communicated. One desk clerk made pointed comments about the chef’s apparent numerous call-offs. "

"We loved everything about this modern hotel, with one exception: the room doors “bang” when closing. These sounds can be heard up and down the hall and woke us up multiple times. Recommendation to the property management to install some form of sound mitigation or softer closing mechanism in the doors. "
