"Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita was one of the most memorable stays of our entire Italy trip. Staying in a beautifully restored historic cave in the heart of Matera was such a unique and magical experience. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and full of character, while still being very comfortable. The staff were absolutely wonderful—warm, friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. Breakfast was also fantastic, with fresh local food and excellent service. The location in the Sassi is incredible, and simply stepping outside the hotel feels like stepping back in time. More than just a hotel, Sextantio really feels like part of the Matera experience. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it!"

"This is an amazing choice to stay in historic Sasso! The location is spectacular! The views are stunning! There is beauty at every angle. You will wear out your camera. No wonder it's been used as a film location for multitudes of movies. Call ahead and arrange for parking because the hotel is in a no parking/driving location. You will understand when you arrive. The spectacular hotel staff will provide a shuttle service for you and your luggage. The amazing and friendly staff will assist you with anything you need. I can't say enough of how helpful and incredible the staff is! Definitely stay 2 days or more if you want to hike at the caves. The breakfast is also spectacular! There is amazing food in town too.
