"The hotel is perfectly positioned in the centre of Lancaster for shops, bars and pubs. Check in was very easy.
Don't know if it was the building, but getting mobile data signal in the room was difficult - make sure you know what the Wifi code is before going in! Ideally having it in the room somewhere would've been really useful!"
"You can’t hear noise from the bar which is great. Depending on which room you have (we’ve stayed twice) you can hear through the walls - we could hear cleaners in the morning. The manager kindly sent on lost property which we were grateful for. "
"I wasn’t happy it’s not a real hotel but that was forgotten as soon as I walked in. Beautiful room with an amazing hot tub and fireplace. I could have spent the whole vaca here. I relaxed and slept well. Highly highly recommend and will stay here again for sure!"
"Really good location right in the centre, lovely warm room and good shower, three separate beds so great for families with older children. Shower could have been more powerful and the communal access to all room keys felt a bit off putting. Lovely staff and nice and clean. "
"Only one key to the whole building, got woken up at 11pm because another guest was locked outside and was banging on the door. Asked for fresh towels and never got a response from the owner. Kitchen had a bad smell coming from the fridges and the tv in my room was broken."
"After going through the front gate that should have locked I came by a dumpster full of stinking garbage. The small courtyard was filthy. The stairs going up to the rooms needed a good cleaning and refurbishing. After opening the door to the room I was surprised how small it was, 8’x8’? The shared bathroom, toilet paperless, was dingy and poorly lit. Some photoshop trickery must have been used for the pics of the place. Since anyone could access the property through the open front, street gate I...

Medieval Lancaster Castle offers fascinating guided tours where you'll discover its history as both royal fortress and former prison. Explore the charming city center with its Georgian architecture, then visit the Ashton Memorial in Williamson Park for panoramic views across Morecambe Bay.
We have been to Lancaster many times as our daughter goes to university here. There are a good range of shops, cafes & bars. Williamsons Park is worth a visit and Morecambe is only a short drive away.

From the hotel you can take a short walk along the River Lune cycle to the aqueduct. Definitely worth climbing the steps to the canal over pass and following the canal around the outskirts. The White Cross restaurant in Lancaster was lovely.

Would love the chance to explore Lancaster further there seems to be a lot of quality pubs and restaurants to enjoy. We ate at Merchants 1668 and had a great meal there.

There was a nice pub just down the road (not really walkable but only 5 mins in the car). Lancaster itself was interesting.

Everything immaculate, location. Lancaster nice to potter round. Lots of good cafes
"I stayed here with my partner for the 2025 air show weekend. It’s a great location on the sea front and our room had gorgeous sea views. If you’re interested to see what it was like to experience luxury at the turn of the century you can see it here. Very dated, of course, but with lots of stunning original features. We parked here for 2 nights, costing £20.
The bar was well priced and the room a great size. My only complaints are that our room was situated between 2 chimneys, and on an extremely windy weekend this made for a very noisy bed time! Luckily my partner can sleep through anything and I’d taken earplugs with me. Secondly, the bed was only a double so felt rather cramped after sleeping in a king. Still, no reason to mark down - it was a great stay."
"Spacious, comfy bedroom for our family of 4. We all enjoyed the swimming pool facilities, as well as the TNT football, which the staff kindly put on for me to watch Palace's famous Community Shield victory over Liverpool, while being served a number of perfectly chilled draught Stellas from the bar. The breakfast was also reasonably priced (children up to 14 eat free) and very tasty. Thank you for a memorable stay!"
"I arrived late in the middle of the night due to my work overrunning and a long drive up the country and the staff member was really nice and had my room key sorted all ready for when I got there."
"You really do pay for what you get. All of the staff from reception, bar staff and waiting on staff were extremely attentive, polite and professional.
The hotel has a premium price tag yet everything there from side tables, lamps and mirrors are all premium. The decor is respectful to the original building yet they have also managed to make the hotel new.
We drank in the bar, we ate in the restaurant, used the spa and booked treatments - it was exceptional.
We arrived home today and plan on booking this hotel for over Christmas. We loved it!"
