I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago when it had just opened. It is in a great location for public transport and walking distance to a lot of restaurants and temples. Rooms are quite generously sized for kyoto as well. My only complaint is it looks like it needs a refresh as it's a little tired, doesn't look like it has been updated since I stayed there 10 years ago. Also the nicer Japanese garden has been removed from 10 years ago and the Japanese restaurant downstairs overlooking that garden which is also very disappointing.

We had an amazing stay at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto! The location is perfect, and the staff are incredibly friendly, warm, and helpful. The Hyatt is conveniently located not far from a JR Sunday line from where one can reach almost all interesting locations in Kyoto. The rooms are well designed, clean and quiet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The Japanese restaurant is nice and provides good food & good & friendly service but it is expensive compared to restaurants at the Ponto-cho. If one has a car parking is provided on site for a fee. My wife and I staid for 6 nights and we liked the hotel.
