"The location is amazing. The hotel is a bit dated but is clean and the staff is great. The fire pits and cliff-side chess set and checkerboard are very fun. 2 pools and a restaurant onsite are convenient but the star of the show is the beach/coastal areas. You practically have them all to yourself."
"Great location to access Hearst Castle. Had restaurant on property. Decent choices of meals. Wasn't very busy on Tuesday night. One guy does it all.
Front desk person was efficient and pleasant. Offered the older couple in front of me a ground level room since they have no elevator for second level rooms. They accepted.
I wasn't offered an upstairs room. I must have looked healthy enough to carry my bags upstairs. Exterior stairs. About 15 of them. It was a pain with my heavy bag but I made it.
My room had the sliding door open about a foot out to the outside porch. It did let in fresh air but I closed it for security reasons. Although it would be hard for someone to jump from one balcony to another, it could be done. So I closed and locked it but that made it hotter at night since there was no AC in the room. Heat only. A negative for me from the east coast.
All in all, decent room. Just wish it had AC and I was on the ground floor.
I didn't have breakfast there but it was available."
"The place has a classic car/garage type vibe. The staff were amazing and helpful. I was arriving late, called them up and they left the keys out for me and turned on the car charger for me to use when I got there. "
"Very disappointed with our stay at Fog Catcher, staff was not very welcoming or friendly I’m talking about the front desk staff. Main pool was closed that was disappointing, the mini blinds need be replaced they are very old and horrible to use ours in room 904 are pretty much broken. Ice machine was to small and the area were the ice machine located was very dirty spider webs everywhere. Couldn’t even get a cup of coffee in the morning iether there was none made or there was not enough coffee made, we have stayed at other locations on the same street and they were by far better, we definitely will not be back to the Fog Catcher needs improvement that’s for sure. "
"Brandon was very helpful & accommodating with all my questions prior to our stay. His winery & dining recommendations were on point. We had a great stay overall and will definitely be back.
The “continental breakfast” was; making your own instant oatmeal, premade coffee, a loaf of pre-sliced lemon or coffee cake, granola bars and apples to go. Seemed very limited and no where to sit, you had to take it back to your room. Not the worst but not the best. However now that we know, we can bring our own food options for our next stay. "
"Great location for visiting Hearst Castle; nice room, lobby, friendly helpful staff.
Unfortunately a bit run down from what it obviously once was when built (50 years ago or more?). Toilet dripped, unprofessional fixture attachment to walls (plumbing and electrical). Hallway skylights need replacing.
Breakfast was a disappointment; just the basics, cereal, waffle maker, toast, apples and bananas, few other items, small generic muffins."
