The only downside was that there was no kettle in the room — even after asking, we had to go downstairs to the reception each time to get hot water. Also, the mattress was a bit too authentic (an old, creaky bed with a worn-out mattress)."

"the first thing that stuck us was how out of town this type of accommodation is. That applies to all Masseria hotels. The rooms are situated around a pretty courtyard. The rooms are basic and of reasonable size. There are no facilities for making tea/coffee. However, there is a fridge. A small sitting area is outside each room. There is no bar here and the restaurant does not open till 8 pm. the reception can provide wine or coffee. We bought our own beer and kept in in fridge in room....

Giardino dei Trulli Tenute was a perfect place for us after a long day of going around Matera, Alberobello and Bari Vecchia. The cosy trullo where we stayed is situated within the farm that gave us a genuine experience of its fascinating history. Breakfast was included.
