"The hotel was under construction. We had reserved ocean view but they originally had our room facing trees and couldn’t see the ocean view. We requested a change. There was also no electricity in my parents room which we had to complain again for a change."

"My room was very clean and very modern with well functioning quiet air conditioning plus ceiling fan. Casa Manglar is a gem of a place that feels more like a quaint yet ultra modern bed and breakfast, with a limited amount of rooms - I think 12. Service is of 5-star quality, the design of the hotel offers the serenity of a spa. Again, 5-star, without pretense. Casa Manglar is located on a very flattened dirt road, a few feet away from the main road that takes you to Puerto Escondido Centro; about 3 miles away. Aside from Centro, beach access is a strong walk to the nearest beach. There’s also a super clean, beautifully clear-water interior pool when a plunge is desired. For less reliance on taxis, I’ll look to rent a car or moped to get around, upon my next visit. The town offers many rental options. My stay at Casa Manglar was brief, but I highly recommend this hotel!"

"Rented the “honeymoon suite” with a kitchen and a pool, for a premium price. This place did not provide the service and value I expected. The pool did not have privacy barriers, as advertised. Kitchen amenities were minimal, 1 pot, 1 pan, chipped coffee mugs. Asked for a proper plug for the sink to do dishes and never did receive one. I always made my own bed, and had to ask the “professional” housekeeping staff to clean the streaky mirror, sweep/wash the floors, and empty the garbage. The toilet always had a brown ring at the water line. The pool pump was broken for two days and it was unusable when the water turned green. The room wi-fi was very poor. We usually went up to the terrace to connect to Starlink. The terrace kitchen/lounge area was filthy. Ants and spiders crawled on the terrace tables eating food crumbs. The hallway floors were never cleaned. One day there was blood on the steps up to the third floor. I reported open drug use on the terrace to the manager and I’m not sure that there were consequences, as the same young men were still in the hotel the next evening. What did I like? I didn’t necessarily like the proximity to the town square, as the music was extraordinarily loud during weekend events, but I really liked the location of this hotel for it’s walkabilty to several beaches, Rinconada area and higher end restaurants, the collectivo pickup to Zicatela and La Punta, the downtown, Juárez local market and restaurants and the ADO and the Chedraui."

"I always enjoy my visits to the Casablanca: friendly and helpful staff, pleasant pool area and a great location in the centre of town. The internet connectivity could be better but that's not the end of the world! "
