This was an amazing experience and probably the highlight of our japan trip. The staff is just incredibly attentive. Don’t think we’ve experienced this anywhere in the world. I truly recommend this place for a relaxing few days. The private onsens are also amazing and super easy to book and use.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Staff was great, overall experience was good! I wish the facility had less dust and Cobb webs
great stay in Hakone, great food and relaxing hot springs. easily accessible via the H bus. highly recommend the mini museum detailing the history of the inn
Really wonderful hotel with private natural osen (in the suite we had). The public osen was also very nice with all the amenities. Dinner and breakfast was served very much like a 5star restaurant, but very traditional Japanese so that is something you have to like. The hotel is very old, boasting as one of the oldest, so it’s pretty authentic so is a bit musty in the common areas. However our room didn’t smell musty and was very clean and felt new. We loved the natural Osen. Would visit again - it definitely felt like a retreat…very peaceful.
Very good Onsen ryokan with rich history.
Excellent service and high quality japanese kaiseki cuisine.
we requested to have cooked fish instead of sashimi, the hotel cooked the fish perfectly.
We enjoyed the stay and the service was very good! The staff serving us dinner was friendly and helpful. Open bath onsen was amazing. Highly recommended if you want a healing trip in Hakone. And adorable free drinking bar and cute public lounge.
The stay was super amazing from the get go. The hotel staff being the limelight, from when we entered the hotel till we exited, they were nothing less than fantastic, polite, efficient and courteous. In terms of the property itself, really amazing rooms, you can book your own private onsen, dinner and breakfast are included and they were very adjusting of our dietary restrictions (including vegetarian). We didn't even notice how the day went by and our stay finished. I will highly recommend it to anyone.
Absolutely unique experience in traditional ryokan. Book private onsen when you check in, and just immerse yourself into quietness atmosphere. Highly recommend.
The experience we had was simply fantastic! The onsens are so nice, the food is amazing and the rooms are beautiful. The staff made sure we had everything we needed, and were so friendly and welcoming. The complimentary bar was great as well. I had high expectations after reading the great reviews and it was better than I even thought!
What an amazing experience. Very memorable. Amazing treatment from staff - We felt very special. The onsen was very unique experience - Loved it. Hiking the surrounding area was very beautiful! We recommend to anyone staying in Hakone!
Loved the service and care taken to preparing our meals. The stay was wonderful and many of the amenities were provided to make an enjoyable stay. The staff were very attentive and incredibly helpful to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Though the place had many amenities, it is farther away from convenience stores and the town.
Overall an amazing stay and I wish I had allotted another day to fully enjoy!
Beautiful very quaint. Traditional Japanese style Royokan. Lovely staff. Felt very welcome. They accommodated my son’s food allergies and we are vegetarian so they made a whole vegetarian vegan eight course menu for us
What an amazing experience, my wife and I enjoyed every minute here. It was fantastic, stay here! The service is indulgent, the room was lovely and the breakfast and dinner was a magical special experience, especially for a couple from London! We would love to return. It was particularly lovely to rest and relax here after a busy Tokyo trip. The private Onsen was also a great plus! Thank you Matsuzakaya Honten for the great memories.
By far the best experience in our trip to japan. The staff was extremely friendly, so hospitable. We had and recommend the private onsen room if available. It was absolutely worth it. We had such a wonderful time, enjoyed all the amazing dinning options the half board dinner and breakfast provided. Really enjoyed our stay in this hidden gem. By far the best experience in the whole trip was the staff.
From the check in to check out the entire experience was wonderful. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the facilities are excellent.
The room was very big and traditional, and the private onsen was relaxing and always available (we used it twice). Dinner and breakfast was also very traditional and a fun change from ramen, sushi, etc. The grounds are very well maintained and photogenic.
Is definitely worth the trip to stay here and it’s way to find using the bus from Odawara Station.
The experience from the start to the end was phenomenal!
The services was exceptional!
The food was great!
You can even book private onsen unlimited times for free!
