"Check-in was fine. There was a wedding on (on a Monday) and was left with a feeling you’d crashed someone’s party. Staff were obviously busy with this wedding so not so attentive to other guests. Main gripe was the additional £25 charge on the room for having our dog with us which wasn’t mentioned in any of the booking material. It’s good to be ‘pet friendly’ but also please be transparent about the charges."

"Accommodation was clean and comfortable. Food served at breakfast was very good. Choice of menu for Dinner was a little limited but the food was very good. Service was very good. One member of staff named Gordon was exceptionally helpful and busy, nothing was to much trouble and went out of his way to ensure guests were comfortable and happy."

"Terrible experience !! The room was advertised for four people, it could hardly fit two. There was no place where to hang the clothes, and no space to move around !! Absolute disaster !! Had to cancel the reservation and booked another hotel !! Even though it was their fault for advertising that room for four people, and it was not, they charged me for one night !! Terrible experience, don’t book that hotel !! Save your money !!"

"Okay, the hotel is a little dated, nearly every step is accompanied by a chorus from the floorboards or stairs but you can expect that of a hotel this age. The views over the Forth are obscured from some rooms by the large trees but you can still see lots of the beach and river from the rooms. The staff, led by Dal are truly friendly and helpful and service is always accompanied with a smile and a jovial greeting. There is a good choice of food on the breakfast menu, enough to satisfy most customers and set them up for whatever their day may have in store. Since our last visit (this was our third) there has been the addition of Indian curries to the menu, they were very tasty and I encourage you to try them. The English food on the menu was nice enough, but the presentation and the quality of the food is somewhat lacking. The hotel is not far from Kinghorn railway station for those who prefer to take the train into Edinburgh and the trains a frequent."

"Inn is clean, though windows are not well insulated for noise leading to hearing every car that passes the busy road. The beds are comfy though room 4 has what appears to be a king sized frame with a double mattress. The central support frame takes up a large bit of the mattress and would be really uncomfortable to share. As a solo traveler pulling the matter to ones side offset this but the correct sized frame would give more space to an already small room. Having a fridge in every room is a great touch and access to a toaster and microwave is helpful as restaurant times are limited if your an early riser or a like a later dinner"

101a Pettycur Road

"WOW!! This rental was amazing. We do weekly rentals a lot and this was probably the best we have ever stayed in. It was a full size apartment, a full living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It was large enough that a couple could easily live there full time. Everything was clean and well decorated. The host even left us a welcome note and a bottle of wine. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need. Even had a dishwasher. Nice washer and dryer as well. I could go on and on about how nice this place was. And, as a bonus, there was the apparently very famous "Black Rock Race" that ran right down Pettycur road during our stay (mid May). We took the short walk to the beach to watch the runners run along the beach for about 3 of the 5 kilometers. I would like to make a helpful comment about finding the place. It does not sit on the street itself. Rather, you need to park on the street in front of #99 and there is a driveway/sidewalk beside that building that leads down to 101a. We had very little information about finding the apartment and the check in procedure. We arrived at about 7:30 and couldn't find the apartment. I called the contact number but it was after hours, so I called their "emergency contact" number and left a message. A person actually called back almost immediately and directed us to the apartment and details of the lock box. HIGHLY RECOMMEND."
