Top Buxton Hotel Reviews

Buxton Crescent
8/10 Good
"A very good experience. One let down is that we had to queue for 20 mins for breakfast."

The Merchant's Yard
10/10 Excellent
"Gorgeous property - an old mill renovated in keeping with the Peak District's charm and limestone buildings. (Oddly it has a commercial showroom attached to it that sells the kitchen/bath fixtures that are used in the property.) The property manager Jo is lovely and was so helpful in answering questions and helping us out with some logistics both before and during our visit. The dining room is beautiful and the breakfast had fresh and ample offerings each morning. (We didn't dine there in the evenings but many guests and locals did.) There is a nice patio to relax in out front as well as in the back of the building, as well as a nice bar area for a drink after a walk, etc. We booked late and the only room available was Room #1. It was very conveniently located next to the back entrance and the front office. We hadn't realized that the room has no window other than a ceiling window that can be opened and shaded electronically. It was pretty warm when we visited and we worried about sleeping in the heat but a Dyson fan was pretty effective in keeping us cool at night. (Some rooms have AC.) The bed was comfortable and the inn was spotless. A refrigerator in the room was very useful. Tideswell is a great base for a visit to the Peak District. It is charming, has great pubs and a few lovely shops and convenient walks. Merchant's Yard was definitely the best of the accommodations offered in the village. We would go back! (Nearby Horse & Jockey pub has GREAT food!)"

Best Western Plus Buxton Lee Wood Hotel

"The hotel is still family run and staff are helpful and friendly. I was informed it has recently been sold and will close for some structural work for about 3 months then reopened under new ownership."

George Inn
10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful classic Georgian country Pub. Big comfortable room with a huge bathroom. The bed was also big and comfortable. We didn’t eat at the pub so cannot comment on that, but the village has several nice places to eat."
