"Everything was excellent, from caring staff, property condition and food. Please note that there is no lift, but they take your bags up and down (2-4 floors). Free coffee/tea in their cafe/bar. Onsen was also very good. Room was spacious and we were allowed an early check-in. Highly recommended if you are visiting Chuzengi. Take care driving up the winding road during winter."

"Everything about the accommodation was excellent, especially the staff! Despite the communication struggles, they were very helpful and provided great service during my stay. The free shuttle service to the ski resort was also extremely useful as they would drive you to your desired resort and pick you up at your specified time.
Without a car, there is limited access to any surrounding towns. There is a bus but it’s relatively infrequent. However, staying in is also great due to the 24 hour...

"Property itself has has an amazing garden with access to river and some great mossed areas. Also situated on the gateway to the heritage areas. Huge room with intriguing heating, steam-punk stuff. Views from room of mountain ranges absolutely intriguing. Furniture bit worn but otherwise clean. Hotel building fascinating to explore. Staff very helpful and courteous."
"The stay was great. Mae sure you get a really soft pillow because there was a long hard pillow in the bed. You were allowed to get another pillow. I recommend it. Otherwise this was a great hotel and close to train"
"Our group of three had a wonderful stay at Fu Cottage. Yoshiko’s warm and attentive hospitality truly made our visit special—she went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The location is excellent, with easy walking access to nearby shrines, local eateries, and charming sweet shops. If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese lodging experience, this cottage is a perfect choice. As it’s an older traditional building, we did encounter a few beetles inside, but it was minimal and didn’t detract from our stay. The cottage was well heated and felt cozy throughout our visit. Space-wise, it’s ideal for three adults; a fourth guest would be manageable, though a bit snug. Overall, I highly recommend Fu Cottage—it’s a charming, comfortable, and culturally rich place to stay during your time in Nikko.

"The room was spotless and the staff , and especially a young woman there (Shirona?); was especially helpful. The area the hotel is situated in is awesome and next to public transportation. The onset was nice too! Thank you! "
