"Staff were great with check-ins..Our toilet kept running water because the commode wouldn’t fill with water. Called front desk and they said they would get maintenance. Maintenance called two hours later when we were ready to go to sleep. We told them come fix it the following day and no one did. Other than that it was a good stay."

"The staff was nice when they were there , however , the rooms were less than desirable even if we were just there for sleeping. The floors were so dirty that our feet were black, the pull out bed/couch had food crumbs and a sunny d bottle in it from previous guest, neither tv worked, and our door had over an inch crack at the top even when locked at latched. The pool had no water in it and no notice was given that Saturday the main road would be shut down from 7am - noon due to a massive running event. The staff was helpful when we could not get a parking spot when returning at night and was quick to retrieve clean towels when asked."

"The Capes Hotel has an excellent location on the VA beach boardwalk and great views from the ocean-facing balconies. However, the pros basically stop there. A few of the outstanding cons are the dated and dilapidated rooms (our tub had a rusty hole in it), stained blankets and furniture, the lack of toiletries typically available at this price level (e.g. no hand/body lotion), constant smell of marijuana in the hallways, and poor WiFi signal. After expressing our concerns to the management, their only solution was to offer us a free night. Why would I want to stay another night in a terrible hotel? One bright spot in this unpleasant experience was the cheery and helpful front desk team member, Vicky. She always greeted us with a smile and went out of her way to show kindness to us. Unfortunately, that is not enough to make us ever want to stay here again. "
