"We had a memorable stay at this hotel. The onsen featured multiple baths such that it never felt crowded even at peak times, and we found the perks like free yakisoba noodles (read: instant noodles), ice cream bars, Yakult yogurt drinks, and self serve coffee options (including matcha lattes, etc which is rare) to be fun and value added. Our triple room had a lot of space and privacy; although ours was sadly on the louder side (mainly from emergency vehicles and motorcycles)as it was on the second floor right above the main entrance. The hotel requests guests to remove and store their shoes at the main entrance which I felt was an interesting and thoughtful concept, but I felt slightly grossed out by seeing a number of guests wander around in bare feet despite being provided socks to wear.
Some minor downsides: We went in late May and the hotel was fully occupied, so we found the 4 or 5 massage chairs almost always occupied and the laundry machines being in high demand (compounded by other guests not removing their clothes when done), and a cramped vibe in the common spaces (other than the onsen as mentioned earlier). The hotel is also a bit farther away (5 min extra walking time) from Kyoto Station than some alternatives but I would still consider it to be convenient."
