10/10 Excellent

"Clean room, serviced and freshened up when I went out for the day. Everything you need in the room and the subtle tartan theme was a nice touch. Friendly staff. Pet friendly. Lovely view of the loch. Parking at the front and side of the hotel. A good base for exploring the historic Kilmarton Glen and nearby Argyle Beaver and Wildlife Centre."

"Friendly receptionist, help me sorting out the TV remote control, unfortunately the TV still didn't work. One of the ceilings lights kept on flickering and only went off when I took the key card out of its slot. As it was passed midnight I didn't bother to go downstairs to ask it be sorted. There were not staff around in the morning so couldn't do it then either. Otherwise nice comfy, clean room."

"This obviously would have been a very grand hotel in its heyday. It's no longer grand but still rather wonderful - high ceilings and huge windows with sea-views. Unpretentious and perfect if you're travelling with kids/dogs/any animal that you might normally worry could do harm/cause annoyance - no need to worry about that here. Traditional breakfast is rather excellent and there are bean-to-cup coffee machines with unlimited refill/return."

"An excellent 'bar pension', centrally located easy walking distance from the rail station and ferry terminal. The rooms are very stylishly decorated but compact, so good for a short stay. The ensuite was cleverly designed to fit hand basin, shower and toilet into a small space. Bed comfortable and nice towels and herbal hand / shower wash. TV working with UK free to air channels. Good Wi-fi and tea kettle and china mugs. Good food in the whisky bar and live music too on the night I was there, though I'd suggest they switch off some of the harsh halogen lights to create a cosier ambience and encourage you to linger longer! The room window was also locked and I suggest the owner unlocks them so that guests can ventilate with the fresh West Highland air if they wish... No socket in ensuite. Officially nowhere to store luggage after the early checkout time but staff let me leave a suitcase in the bar and keep the outside key until midday, which was welcome. Recommended"

"Room was good but could have done with some place to hang wet coats and a safe preferably big enough for a laptop. Staff were pleasant and helpful Breakfast was plentiful, hot and tasty. Personally I would have preferred either bigger cups or a teapot but that’s my personal preference. Parking was limited. We parked in front of the hotel but didn’t use our car for the whole time we were there, so don’t know if there was any other parking places available. Altogether a nice place with excellent views over the bay."
