"We were greeted and checked in by Ruby, who was so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The motel was simple but clean. The view from our room was incredible and it was super quiet. We had everything we needed and we will be back next year!"
Hyatt Vacation Club at Northstar Lodge, Lake Tahoe
6/10 Okay
"When we first arrived, it became clear that the staff seriously needs training on how to treat customers regardless. There was some sort of rudeness from the staff during both check-in and checkout. While the rules they mentioned might be true, the way they explained them was not welcoming —for example: ‘World of Hyatt doesn’t matter, whether Discoverist or Globalist, you have to leave at 10 AM.’ We never felt welcomed for highly-rated, luxury ski resort property. The staff member insisted on asking us certain confirmations. They really need more self-confidence, and their boss needs to coach them.
At checkout, I asked for a receipt and wanted to confirm if I had been charged a resort fee. The receptionist said I hadn’t been charged a resort fee and would print my receipt. However, another staff member stepped in and said, ‘We don’t give receipts here. You should get answers to your questions by calling Hyatt. She then prevented the other staff member from answering my questions.
We found the room clean, but the furniture on the balcony was very dusty. We wanted to use the washer and dryer, but unfortunately, there was an underwear left in the dryer from a previous guest, so we did not use the dryer in the room."
"The Peppertree Inn is an older property, however, it is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and Casey (met at check-in), was very helpful. There is an elevator so getting up to the higher floors was easy (there are 7 total). Checking out was convenient with a locked box on the outside of the office. Tahoe City is super nice with plenty of restaurants and shopping. Safeway grocery store is close by with a Starbucks coffee station inside. We had friends staying at Star Harbor so the Peppertree location was extremely convenient to make trips back and forth to their condo on the lake. We will consider staying there again if/when needed. Thank you."
"Arrival and check in were easy. Although, it appeared someone had been sleeping in the bed we were given at check in. We were immediately assigned to a different room. Bed was new, I think. The frame had narrow metal legs and it squeaked every time we turned in bed. The mattress was ok. Breakfast is cold cereal and oatmeal packages and orange juice. There is a good breakfast/lunch diner across the street. We like the downtown location, but the hotel really needs a good make over."
