Thornbury Castle, Relais & Châteaux

"Lovely stay, food delicious, staff friendly and attentive without being too much. We stayed in a delux double which was a great room but it’s around the back of the castle which needs some tlc - weeds we’re growing, uneven steps, and a random grubby area near the door to the spiral staircase to our room. This area had some bar tables but no stools- felt a bit forgotten about and tainted the special feeling of staying in castle."

Royal Hotel Ross On Wye by Greene King Inns

"We enjoyed our stay at The Royal. A central location in Ross-on-Wye meant an easy walk to shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs so left the car in the car park. The parking area is quite tight if you have a large car. Our room was clean, comfortable and warm. A bit of noise could be heard from the bar below but it didn't stop me having a wonderful night's sleep. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. We had a dinner and a breakfast both of which were excellent value. A bit of background music in the restaurant would have been nice. Overall an excellent hotel to use as a base to explore the lovely Wye Valley and surrounding area."

"A lovely stay at The Speech House. A beautiful setting, comfortable room and a warm welcome. Perfect for a one-night stopover and a great base for exploring the Forest of Dean. Would happily stay again!"
Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel & Spa

"Our room was huge(forest room.) Bed was 2 singles attached together but very comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast. Staff are polite and helpful . In our room, there was a bath, but no fixed shower. Gym was large and we used it every day. The pool area was quiet and relaxing, the water was sometimes a bit cold for some people, but great if you like swimming lengths. The jacuzzi wasn't working unfortunately but the sauna was lovely. The changing rooms & showers were rather smelly and not cleaned thoroughly. The hotel is looking a bit tired in some areas and is due for refurbishment in January apparently. Overall, we had a relaxing stay and would come again."

"First impression when checking in at the bar was a bit dull and dreary. The rooms are small but quite adequate with a comfy bed, good shower. We ate in the bar area which is actually fine, the food was excellent. There are a few locals who frequent the bar. Car parking onsite £5. Staff are nice snd friendly. Lovely patio area with table, chairs if staying in the summer. Check out is too early at 10.00am could do with another hour in the morning. Would probably stay again if in the area."
