Short stay for the Cristmas market.

Hotel well positioned to the town centre Creaking floors added to the historic ambience of the hotel. Service was excellent and bedroom warm and cozy, essential during the very cold weather during the Christmas market.

Really unique building that really immersed us in the Shakespearean town. All staff we encountered were friendly and nothing to much trouble. On site bar was great and communal areas had plenty of character.

Very conveniently located in Stratford with lots of Tudor-esque period charm. Helpful staff on the front desk. Yes, some of the facilities (bathrooms) could do with an upgrade but our room had everything we needed, beds were comfortable and clean and for the price paid we were very happy with our stay.

Lovely place to stay, very central. Amaxing building. Staff very polite and helpful, but short staffed the whole weekend so bar area was constantly closed. Breakfast and service was very good. No option to keep towels, changed every day- not eco friendly

Great location a bit expensive

A great location and lots of character in this hotel. A bit expensive considering you have to pay extra for breakfast and parking which added another £78 to our 2 night stay. The room was clean and comfortable but a little tired and could benefit from a coat of paint. And some new arm chairs. The breakfast was generally good but warm rather than hot. Overall we enjoyed our stay but felt itvwas somewhat expensive given the quality of the hotel.

Stunning old building & comfy stay

Really enjoyed our little overnighter here. Absolutely stunning building. Nice size room with high ceiling in gorgeous Tudor style. Bed comfy nice bedding. Read some bad reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Yes the carpet is a little old and the chair by the window but it’s all part of the charm. Large modern bathroom. Only negative was a little dust on the windowsills nothing to ruin a lovely comfy night sleep and lovely staff at check in too

The location is good but the hotel is very shabby and dirty. Our hotel room had black mould and the bath taps weren't working properly. We also didn't have any heating and there were no car parking spaces.

Lovely hotel but at £193 was joined to another room with a thin antique door . Lovely but thin could hear all conversations,snoring toilet breaks so they would hear use . Parking extra £15 . Breakfast was lovely can’t fault shame it is not within price another £12 each

Loved staying at this hotel. The history, the ambiance, the staff. Everyone was very pleasant. Hotel is right in town, walking distance to most things Shakespeare. It’s a very old hotel with lots of charm. Not a modern cookie cutter place. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that our toilet didn’t ever flush. We got it to flush once and housekeeping got it to flush once. Would definitely return and/or recommend though.

The Mercure in Stratford is an old building.This is not a 5 star resort.I say this as a positive statement.The world needs both.I love the vintage nature of The Mercure.It's a a perfect reprasentative of Stratford as a whole-English,old, Beautiful and magical.I love the old beams,not a single right angle to be found.Wonderful sitting spaces,and a short walk to the beautiful park with canals.

Not a right angle in sight!!

The Shakespeare is old, very old, and as such the walls and floors are a bit wibbly wobbly without a right angle anywhere in the building. It is full of character so if you are expecting modern clean lines, don't bother with this place. But once you accept the limitations that character brings, what you have with this hotel is a comfortable well equipped hotel in a brilliant position to explore the joys of Stratford. I loved the place and will happily return
