Southern Kyoto hotel rooms a the Villa Fontaine

"The room was beautiful, well appointed and very clean. The restaurant staff were wonderful and very attentive. My only comment would be that the front desk staff felt a little indifferent at times. All in all we really enjoyed our stay."

"My wife and I only stayed for one night as we were doing a two day mini-trip from Tokyo. The staff was very friendly and helped us get situated. The Japanese-style room was well maintained and clean. We were given robes, sandals, and hot tea. They have a free drink bar throughout the day, but do not have coffee in the morning unless you pay breakfast. Overall great experience would absolutely book again for a short stay."

"I've stayed at many Smile hotels in the past. This one has much smaller rooms! Other than great, it has a GREAT staff, very friendly and helpful! It's near the Kyoto Station. It's very easy to find, as it is in the direction where the Kyoto Tower is. When you get out of Kyoto Station's main/central entrance FACING the Kyoto Tower, with the station behind you, walk straight up for 4-5 minutes on the left side of the street/boulevard. You should be passing the huge temple on your left hand, and you should be on the same side of the street as the temple is. The hotel is literally right after the metro exit, like 5 steps after the metro exit of the Gojo stop. You can take the metro back and forth between the hotel and Kyoto Station. It's just ONE stop! Get off the Gojo stop and remember to take the correct exit to end up next to the hotel! Say "Hi!" to the staff member and mention "Anime Power!" to the staff members. "clean room, nice staff. however the concierge didn't speak english well. convenient as it is a block from the train station and was the hub of all transportation. the shopping and food area in kyoto station was very convenient."
